On November 16, in the Great Assembly Hall of Sumgayit State University, an award ceremony was held in the nomination "The best textbook and teaching aids" in accordance with the quarantine rules.

Opening the event, the rector of the university, Professor Elkhan Huseynov, greeted the participants, congratulated the award-winning authors, and said that this competition will continue in the future. He noted that today SSU pays special attention to scientific research and training of highly qualified scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel. “Modern Azerbaijani education strengthened on the basis of the development of science, today is based on national-moral and universal values, international experience. Serious reforms are being carried out to bring human capital to the forefront and to integrate science and education into the international community”.

“Sumgayit State University has achieved great success in this direction, and by the decision of the Scientific Council, for the first time in the history of SSU, starting from 2017, training of specialists in the doctoral program is carried out. One of the greatest achievements in the history of SSU is the establishment of Dissertation Councils in 2018 by the decision of the Supreme Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. At present, the university has 3 Dissertation Councils in 6 specialties. One of the priorities of the university is to involve young people in scientific activities. In recent years, our university has been pursuing a successful youth policy. Our graduates are provided with jobs, full-time and part-time teachers, tutors, researchers, laboratory assistants, senior laboratory assistants, specialists, and other positions. The Council of Young Scientists aims to involve young scientists and researchers in scientific activities at Sumgayit State University, to raise their scientific and professional level, to combine efforts to develop current scientific problems and solve priority scientific issues, to develop innovative activities of young scientists and help them realize their full potential, To achieve its goal, the Council coordinates the activities of individual faculties and scientific institutions of SSU in the organization of scientific research of young scientists, organizes scientific conferences, seminars, forums, exhibitions and other events that allow the participation of young scientists and researchers and attracts them to participate in national and international scientific conferences, seminars, congresses, forums, exhibitions, and other events. The rector also noted that the articles of university scientists were published in journals listed by Thomson Reuters, as well as using the electronic database of the Russian Scientific Reference Index (RINC) eLibrary.ru”.

Speaking about the importance of the competition, the rector stressed that the competition is related to the implementation of the Strategic Development Plan of Sumgayit State University for 2020-2025. The purpose of the competition is to organize the teaching of subjects at the university more effectively, to increase the responsibility and love of teachers for their work, and to select the best textbooks and teaching aids by faculties (ultimately at the university) and award the winners.

Then the winners of the competition in the nomination "The best textbook and teaching aids" were awarded. Rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov presented diplomas to the winners and wished them success in their scientific activities.

The award-winning authors thanked the university administration for organizing the "Best Textbook and Teaching Aids" competition. They said that this competition will give them a new impetus in their scientific activities.

The authors then submitted their signatures to the Scientific Library for storage of copies of textbooks, teaching, and methodological aids.

It should be noted that, according to the decision of the meeting of the Academic Council of the University dated October 29, 2021, Rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov signed an order on Sumgayit State University on awarding the winning nominations and their authors.
