On November 25, the Department of Economics of Sumgayit State University together with the Department of Economic Security of Ufa State Petroleum Technological University organized an online round table on "Transformation of the educational process in the context of digitalization."

The event was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management, Associate Professor Aynura Yahyayeva, who greeted the participants and spoke about the importance of the event. She noted that the purpose of the event is to exchange experience and views on the training of economists meeting the requirements of the labor market in digital conditions, especially in pandemic and post-pandemic times, the organization of distance and hybrid education in universities.

Speaking about the economic, cultural, and strong friendly relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation, the dean stressed the importance of expanding cooperation in the field of science and education. She noted that close multifaceted relations between Sumgayit State University and Ufa State Petroleum Technological University were established after the establishment of the Russian-Azerbaijani University Association, and these relations are still successfully continuing. She expressed confidence that today"s roundtable would contribute to further strengthening inter-university cooperation. She noted that holding such meetings will be important in the scientific work of young researchers, and the established cooperation will contribute to the exchange of science and education between the countries.

Associate Professor Lala Mahmudova, Head of the Department of Economics, SSU, spoke about the urgency of the topic. She noted that digitalization and the IV Industrial Revolution did not pass unnoticed to the requirements for personnel, the importance of improving the work of departments to train specialists who meet these requirements, informed the participants about the work done and to be done in this direction at the Department of Economics.

Associate Professor Olga Mamatelashvili, Head of the Department of Economic Security of Ufa State Petroleum Technological University, greeted the participants of the round table and informed them about the organization of distance and hybrid education at USPTU, difficulties in this field, organization and development prospects of bachelor"s and master"s degrees at the Department of Economic Security.

Mahammad Ahmadov, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Economics, SSU, expressed his views on what concepts economists should have in the digital age, how many specialized departments should organize their work, steps to be taken in this direction.

Elvira Muhamadiyeva, an associate professor at the Economic Security Department of Ufa State Petroleum Technological University, noted the importance of determining the ratio of classroom and distance learning, and that digital technology is a tool in solving educational problems.

Elina Gabidulina, Associate Professor of Economic Security at Ufa State Petroleum Technological University, spoke about the problem of matching the quality of digital education services relevant to universities with the demand for competent personnel in the economy, which has mastered digital competencies, and ways to solve it.
