On December 9, Sumgayit State University hosted the IV Republican Scientific Conference on "Applied Problems of Mathematics and New Information Technologies" in online format.

The conference was attended by professors and teachers of SSU, as well as scientists from a number of universities and research institutes operating in the country.

Opening the conference, the rector of the university, Professor Elkhan Huseynov, greeted the conference participants, expressed satisfaction with seeing them, spoke about the importance of the conference and said that the number and prestige of scientific articles at this year"s conference has increased. He noted that this is the fourth conference on "Applied Problems of Mathematics and New Information Technologies". He said: “Due to the rapid development of information systems and technologies, both theoretically and practically, there is a need for scholars to exchange views on the achievements in the field since the last conference and the tasks ahead. Heydar Aliyev, who laid the foundation for the development of the information and communication technology sector in Azerbaijan in the 70s of the last century, knew with his foresight that the new century, the new era will be the ICT century, the ICT era. Training of talented scientists and experienced specialists in electronics, automation and computer science at the Academy of Sciences, universities and field institutes in 1970-80, construction of factories producing electronic equipment, establishment of the Institute of Cybernetics, Space Research Center, Information and Communication Scientific Center by Heydar Aliyev were successful steps for the future.”

“It is impossible to imagine our globalized world, which is constantly striving for innovation, without the most modern information and communication technologies - the Internet, high technology and global communication capabilities. The most urgent task of human civilization in the new millennium is to conquer inaccessible peaks through "revolutionary" changes in the field of telecommunications and information technology, to eliminate time and space differences between states and nations”.

Afterwards the following scientists delivered speech in the conference: corresponding member of ANAS, professor, head of the Laboratory of Recognition, Identification and Optimal Decision Methods of the Institute of Control Systems of ANAS Kamil Aydazadeh “Feedback Control of power and motion of lumped sources”, head of the department of the Institute of Information Technologies of ANAS Member, Professor Ramiz Aliguliyev "Problems of Big Data and its analysis", Head of the Laboratory of Modeling of Technical Objects and Processes of the Institute of Control Systems of ANAS, Doctor of Technical Sciences Fahrad Pashayev "Modern state of signal analysis" and academician Telman Aliyev"s "Theory and technologies of noise analysis", Professor Agil Huseynov, Head of the Department of Information Technologies and Programming, Sumgayit State University, made a report on "Development of methodological bases for the construction of an intelligent automated design system." They said that if we look at the history of Azerbaijan"s development, we will see the manifestations of a wise policy aimed at the future, ensuring sustainable development, conditioning the development of science and technology, sustainable development of every sector of the economy and the welfare of every member of society. In this regard, as a worthy successor of Heydar Aliyev"s political course, Mr. Ilham Aliyev brought a new atmosphere and new shades to domestic and foreign policy during his presidency. This political course was determined not only in our country and the region, but also in the world, taking into account the ongoing geopolitical and economic processes, as well as positive international experience in this field. It is no coincidence that the application of information and communication technologies in Azerbaijan, which is the locomotive of socio-economic development in the globalized world, has been declared a priority in this political course. Purposeful state policy is being successfully implemented to make Azerbaijan a leading country in the region in the field of ICT.

Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Associate Professor Ulduz Agayev informed about the further work of the conference. He noted that the conference included 158 theses of 254 authors from 26 public and private universities, institutes and other institutions of ANAS.

It should be noted that the conference will last for two days in three sections.
