On the occasion of the Day of Remembrance of the great leader Heydar Aliyev, on December 10, the scientific-practical conference was held in an online format at Sumgayit State University on "Independent Azerbaijani state is the greatest contribution of Heydar Aliyev to our people!".

First, the conference participants laid flowers in front of the bust of the National Leader in the lobby of the university and observed a minute of silence in memory of the great leader.

Opening the conference, Rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov said: “18 years have passed since the death of our national leader Heydar Aliyev, the founder of the independent Republic of Azerbaijan, on December 12. He has given us an unshakable, powerful state - Azerbaijan. Our people always remember and commemorate the immortal, eternal memory of Heydar Aliyev”. Rector spoke in detail about the glorious life and activity of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, who served our native Azerbaijan, our people, strengthening our state independence, army building, improving the welfare of the population in our country, building a secular state. He created the political, ideological and economic foundations of his statehood, made the people want to have an independent and strong state, and became a living legend in his lifetime, gaining immortality in our modern history. Our genius leader, who served Azerbaijan and Azerbaijanism with all his being, united our people with eternity. The holy spirit of the national leader Heydar Aliyev, who unites our people around his ideas, unites and strengthens us today. Today, under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, a worthy successor of the political course of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, Azerbaijan is developing and achieving new successes. The rector added that these days, when we celebrate the Day of Remembrance of the Great Leader, are historic days. At the end of his speech, the rector also stressed that the policy of Heydar Aliyev will always live, the independence of Azerbaijan will be eternal and irreversible!

Then the following people made speeches accordingly: Vice-Rector for Humanitarian Affairs, Associate Professor Ramiz Huseynov on "Heydar Aliyev is the founder of independent Azerbaijani statehood", Head of the Department of History and its teaching methods, Associate Professor Sona Maharramova "Heydar Aliyev's ideology of Azerbaijanism ", Head of the Department of Finance and Accounting, Associate Professor Logman Abdullayev "Heydar Aliyev's ideas is the basis for sustainable economic development ", Elnara Ahmadova, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Azerbaijani Language and its Teaching Methods, made a report on "Savior of our national culture - Heydar Aliyev", Jeyhun Asgarov, 2nd year master of History and Geography on "President Ilham Aliyev - a leader who realizes the dreams of the great leader." They spoke about the construction work carried out by the Great Leader during his years in political power, and his services in building an independent Azerbaijan. They spoke about the steps taken by national leader Heydar Aliyev to build a modern Azerbaijani state as a person with a wise policy, steadfast faith and historical foresight. The speakers emphasized that the Azerbaijani Army, founded by the Great Leader, wrote the history of victory and victory of our country in the 44-day Patriotic War under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief.
