On July 3, a meeting was held with the European Games volunteers at Sumgait State University. Rector of the University, Professor Elkhan Huseynov noted that the First European Games has been successfully completed. More than 6 thousand athletes from 50 countries of the continent took part in the spectacular sporting event and as a result of a fair competition the strongest prevailed. Azerbaijan set a new standard for hosting a large-scale sporting event by organizing Baku 2015 First European Games and wrote the history of independent Azerbaijan in Europe. After a few days of bringing Europe together through sports and friendship, Azerbaijan"s reputation as a sporting country has increased in the world. All of these are a continuation of the policy by the founder and the architect of the modern independent state of Azerbaijan, the great leader Heydar Aliyev. Heydar Aliyev paid great attention to the development of Azerbaijan’s sports policy. In this area, President Ilham Aliyev resolutely continues the political course of Heydar Aliyev, making Azerbaijan one of the world"s sports center.
Organized by Azerbaijan’s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador, deputy of  the parliament, and the Chair of Baku 2015 European Games Organizing Committee Mehriban Aliyeva ,the First European Games Final was concluded successfully and it was written with a great honor in the world’s sport history.
Rector, Professor Elkhan Huseynov congratulated President Ilham Aliyev and our country"s First LadyMehriban Aliyeva, as well as Azerbaijani people  on behalf of the teachers and students of Sumgait State University on the occasion of the brilliant victory.
Rector stressed that “Baku 2015” First European Games got a lot of attention from all over the world. First of all, it showed Azerbaijan’s ability to host an international sporting event. It was written in the history of our country with golden medals. During the First European Games, Sumgait State University young volunteers’ services were gratifying. Volunteers from our university managed quite the honorable and responsible work. Our volunteers’ use of some foreign languages in order to inform tourists about Azerbaijani historical monuments and culture is the result of the quality of education at our university.
Professor Elkhan Huseynov thanked Vice Rector for Humanitarian Affairs, Associate Professor Nizami Namazov and Student Union Chairman Nemat Ibayev for organizing volunteers active participation in the  First European Games.Speaking about the session exams for the volunteers. Active volunteers will also be awarded.
A second year student of Philology Faculty, Sevil Yusifova expressed her pride to be a participant in this prestigious international sports festival as a volunteer during the competition. “We showed the necessary help to the athletes from various countries.Establishing friendships with people from different countries was among our many achievements. For this reason, it was important to know a foreign language. I express my deep gratitude to the teachers of our university for teaching me German within a month.
A third year student of History and Geography faculty, Ferid Vagifli thanked Elkhan Huseynov on behalf of the students and youth for the care and attention provided to them during their stay as the volunteers in the First European Games.
Students shared their memories of the unforgettable historic day and the victory was celebrated with applause.
