On December 21, a group of teachers and students of the Department of Electrotechnics and Energetics of the Faculty of Physics and Electrical Engineering of SSU, led by the head of the department, Associate Professor Nadir Hajibalayev, made an excursion to Sumgayit Power Plant.

Our delegation, which took part in the tour, was first warmly welcomed by Tofik Gurbanov, the leading engineer of the Technical Support Department of the station, who gave detailed information about the station. He noted that the station was reconstructed by SIEMENS (GERMANY) on the basis of Sumgayit Thermal Power Plant No. 1. It produces 483 megawatt electricity per hour daily and transmits it to the system. In addition to steam turbines, the station also has gas turbines. Shafa Valiyeva, the leading engineer of the turbine workshop, acquainted the students with all the heating equipment at the station. He informed about the working principle of the equipment and their initial parameters. It turned out that the station has two boilers, two turbines (gas-steam turbine), a dirty water tank with a capacity of 2000 m³ and a clean water tank with a capacity of 750 m³, a coastal station, condensate pumps, feed pumps, gas supply points to the station, (the gas pressure is 28 atmosphere), and a control room.
