The scientific council of SSU began its work with majority vote on July 11. The chairman Elkhan Huseynov greetedcouncil members and spoke about measures to strengthen the university’s material technical base and improve quality of education at the university.
First Assistant Professor Isabala Gurbanov, Head of Education Department, provided detailed information about the results of spring exams, state exams and graduation theses of fourth course students, and informed that about 100 students increased their scores through passing oral testing. Assistant Professor Gafar Atayev, vice-rector on correspondence learning, distant learning and additional education presented a report on spring term exam results on correspondence learning for 2014-2015 and Assistant Professor Ramiz Huseynov, head of doctorate and master’s department, gave information about the results of spring term exams on master’s degree and master’s thesis defense.
Faculty deans presented reports on spring term exams. Noting the reports, the rector Elkhan Huseynov praised theSSU’s work during the year and expressed his satisfaction about the objective results of spring exams. Professor Elkhan Huseynov gave appropriate instructions related to the preparations for the academic year 2015-2016.
Scientific Secretary, Assistant Professor Agil Huseynov presented a report on the adoption of Scientific Council’s Workplan for the academic year 2015-2016.
During the discussion of current matters, Assistant Professor Turgay Huseynov, Head of International Cooperation Department talked about adoption of the statute for the Centre for students with physical disabilities and noted that every condition was created for launching the centre. 
The assistant professor of solid body physics department, Samir  Orujov, presented a report about his practice inEducation Academy organized by Intel Company USA. In the meeting the participants had exchange of opinions on the report by the chairman of Educational Methodological Council, Professor Mahammad Ahmedov’s education plans for new specialties and preparation of syllabuses. The council members also heard the Appeals Commission report by Nadir Kazimov and the report on the Hotline and Exam Headquarters by Professor Shirkhan Salimov with great interest. 
Rector Elkhan Huseynov congratulated the head of Ancient World and Middle Ages History Department, Assistant Professor Hamid Aliyev for obtaining doctor’s diploma of Higher Attestation Committee.
