On March 30, the rector of the university  professor Elkhan Huseynov  accepted  the head of the Folklore Research Laboratory of SSU, doctor of philological science, professor, member of the Azerbaijan Writers 'Union and the Azerbaijan Journalists' Union Astan Bayramov on the occasion of his 75th anniversary.

Speaking about the effective scientific and pedagogical activity of the jubilee as a scientist and pedagogue, the rector congratulated him and said that in the history of each educational institution there are valuable teachers who have devoted their lives to productive scientific and pedagogical activity. One of them is a prominent literary scholar Astan Bayramov. For many years, he has maintained  the respect and admiration of the people around him and the team he works with for his multifaceted activity and creativity, wisdom and simplicity. Astan Bayramov is also a well-known Azerbaijani scientist, doctor of philological sciences, professor, member of the Azerbaijan Writers 'Union and the Azerbaijan Journalists' Union.

At the end of his speech, the rector presented an honorary diploma and a money award to professor Astan Bayramov "for long-term  scientific-pedagogical and public activities and on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of his birth."

Vice-rector for science and innovations Ramazan Mammadov, dean of the faculty of philology Sevinj Hamzayeva and other speakers spoke about the high human qualities and effective scientific activity of the scientist. It was noted that Astan Bayramov's career is mainly connected with Sumgayit State University (SSU). For some time he worked as an associate professor at Sumgayit State University, then head of the department (2003-2009) and dean of the faculty of philology (2003-2014). At present, Astan Bayramov is a professor at the department of Azerbaijani language and its teaching methods at SSU, and the head of the Folklore Research Laboratory. He is a member of the Azerbaijan Writers 'Union and the Azerbaijan Journalists' Union. He was awarded the Medal of Progress. Professor Astan Bayramov studied the Azerbaijani language, language history, dialectology, onomastics, toponymy, folklore, etc. He is the author of 8 books on the subject, 25 subject programs, more than 150 scientific articles. He is also one of the co-authors of the "Kitabi-Dada Gorgud encyclopedia" (Baku 2002, volumes 1 and 2). His scientific articles have been published in Azerbaijan, Iran, Turkey and Russia.
