An event on "Azerbaijan"s security as one of the state"s priorities" was organized by the State Security Service (SSS) on April 26 at Sumgayit State University.

The event was attended by Colonel Natig Agayev, chief of the Sumgayit City Department of the State Security Service, Lieutenant-Colonel Shamil Sagiyev, Chief of the Department Captain Mahir Miriyev, as well as faculty and students of the University.

First the rector of SSU, Professor Elkhan Huseynov and the head of the Sumgayit City Department of the State Security Service, Colonel Natig Agayev, laid flowers at the bust of national leader Heydar Aliyev in the lobby of the university.

At the Heydar Aliyev Center named after the great leader, Colonel Natig Agayev viewed photographs and books dedicated to  the national leader Heydar Aliyev"s rich life and activity, including his visits to foreign countries as President of independent Azerbaijan, meetings with influential statesmen. He noted  his heartfelt words in the  memory book of the center .

The event was opened by the rector of Sumgayit State University professor Elkhan Huseynov who greeted the guests and spoke about the importance of the event. The rector spoke about the importance of ensuring the national security which was a priority of each state  and the Concept of National Security developed under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. Noting that the main factor against the security of our country for nearly 30 years is the policy of aggression pursued by Armenia, the rector said that a new security order was formed in the region as a result of the Azerbaijani Army"s victory in the Patriotic War and the destruction of Armenian fascism. After the war, the destructive actions of forces living with revanchist ideas who still do not want to reconcile with the real situation in the region are observed. Thus  the disgusting elements in Armenia unable to accept the current situation  are constantly counter-propaganda against our country, trying to sow discord among the various peoples living in Azerbaijan, trying to strain relations between neighboring countries and our republic. Under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev the relevant state bodies are closely monitoring the possible provocations of the Armenians against our country and taking adequate measures. The rector also noted that as a result of the direct initiative and efforts of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva  the state provides  opportunities for educating the young generation in the spirit of patriotism, respect for cultural and spiritual values. Establishment is one of the priorities of a successful national development strategy implemented in the country. 

Noting  the importance of the event, Colonel Natig Agayev, chief of the Sumgayit City Office of the State Security Service  spoke about the need to unite efforts to combat threats to the security of the country. Then he spoke about the history of special services, the activities of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in the security agencies. He said  about the security measures taken by the SSS including the role of civilians.

Chief of the Sumgayit City Department of the State Security Service, Lieutenant-Colonel Shamil Sagiyev, employees of the Central Office of the State Security Service Captain Mahir Miriyev made  speeches  about their intelligence-disruptive activities against Azerbaijan, international terrorist organizations, drugs and human trafficking, as well as transnational crime. They said that the State Security Service would continue to take decisive measures against all cases aimed at destabilizing the country.

Then the responsible staff of SSS asked the students  numerous questions.
