On May 26, a seminar called "Digital skills in the field of ICT accessibility" was organized by the faculty of Engineering of Sumgayit State University.

Dean of the faculty Ulduz Agayev opened the seminar, greeted the participants and said that since the end of the 20th century, the development of information and communication technologies has become one of the priority directions in the modernized ,globalized world, and information and communication technologies are widely used in Azerbaijan. He noted that the "National Strategy on Information and Communication Technologies for the Development of the Republic of Azerbaijan (2003-2012)" signed by the great leader Heydar Aliyev on February 17, 2003 stimulated  to the  development of this field in our country. He said that the reforms and innovations carried out in the field of education in recent years become an important factor in training students with competitive, modern competence and skills, specialists who adequately respond to the current challenges of the time. From this point of view, the importance of the seminar "Digital skills in the field of ICT accessibility within the framework of the State Strategy for the development of education in the Republic of Azerbaijan" is undeniable. The dean also noted that in our country, as in other fields, the informatization of the education field is experiencing a period of rapid development.  One of the main directions in the document "Azerbaijan 2030: National Priorities for socio-economic development" signed by President  Ilham Aliyev is the formation of highly competitive human capital.

Professor Agil Huseynov  head of the department of information technologies and programming  made a speech and said that today it is impossible to imagine our world without modern technologies. Internet resources and information technology tools are accessible to people and they are easily used for every member of society, regardless of age and education. Our country is among the countries that actively use modern information technologies. The Republic of Azerbaijan shows its highest development both domestically and internationally. The biggest example of this is the Second Karabakh war. During the war, every citizen of Azerbaijan showed his support either on the front or the rear.

Shalala Jafarova, associate professor of the department of information technologies and programming, speaking on the topic "Modern information technologies and the virtual world" said that the need to develop Information and Communication Technologies is more felt in the current globalization period, and the rapid development and spread of these technologies creates wide opportunities for the development of humanity.

Then docent Shalala Jafarova gave a presentation on "What is Wikipedia".

The seminar continued with an interesting discussion.
