In 2022, it will be 190 years since the birth of Khurshidbanu Natavan a prominent figure of Azerbaijani artistic thought. In this regard, in accordance with the Decree of the President Mr. Ilham Aliyev on "Celebrating the 190th anniversary of Khurshidbanu Natavan" an event called "Prominent figure of Azerbaijani artistic thought" was held in the Scientific library of Sumgayit State University on October 13.

Naila Amrahova the director of the Scientific library of the university opened the event, talked about the life and creativity of Khan gizi Natavan the last heir of the Karabakh Khanate, as well as her literary meetings, and said that Khurshidbanu Natavan has a special place in our literary history with artistic talent and advanced ideas. Khurshidbanu, who is known as "Khan gizi " in her homeland Shusha is one of our poetesses with a complicated life, who is loved for her romantic-sad poems, descriptions of nature, and poems addressed to her contemporaries. Khurshidbanu Natavan"s creativity has always been in the spotlight, and a number of measures have been taken to eternalize her memory in our country, including a statue of the poetess in Baku in 1960, and a bust of the poetess in Shusha in 1982 with the participation of the great leader Heydar Aliyev. The bust, which was damaged by the Armenian occupying forces with bullets while capturing Shusha and vandalizing the historical-architectural and cultural monuments here.It was returned to its original place after the liberation of the city by the glorious Azerbaijan Army during the 44-day Patriotic war. Today, Natavan"s bust stands again in Shusha and shows the celebration of our great Victory. It is also a symbol of our state"s care for national cultural heritage and a manifestation of respect for moral values.

The staff of the Scientific library spoke on the topics - Sevinj Mammadova "Khurshidbanu Natavan"s life", Khatira Aliyeva "Khurshidbanu Natavan"s creativity".They stated that the poetess Khurshidbanu Natavan"s invaluable services in the development of our literature and culture, her literary creativity and charity work.

In the artistic part of the event, the third-year students of the faculty of Philology Narmin Kardashkhanli sang the ghazals of poetess "Yena ya rab, nə qəmgindir mənim bu şad olan könlüm”, and Humay Isayeva "Carnation".

 The chairman of the Free Trade Union Committee of SSU Nemat Ibayev made a final speech at the event and spoke about the contribution rendered by Natavan Khan gizi who lived in the 19th century, in the development of our literature and culture. Khurshidbanu Natavan is not only a poetess, but also one of the most important figures of the social and political life of Azerbaijan.
