On November 3, an event called "November 8 - Victory Day" was held in the Scientific library of Sumgayit State University.

Associate professor Elmar Khalilov - vice-rector for Social affairs and public relations of the university, Naila Amrahova- head of the scientific library, Nemat Ibayev, chairman of the Free Trade Union, associate professor Samir Karimli- lecturer of the department of History and its teaching methodology, Tayfun Hajili- chairman of the Student Trade Union Committee, and the students participated in the event.

First, the  memory of our martyrs who died for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country was commemorated with a minute of silence.

The event was opened by vice-rector for Social affairs and public relations associate professor Elmar Khalilov congratulated our people on the occasion of "Victory Day" spoke about the bravery of the Azerbaijani soldiers gaining the  victory in the Patriotic war under the leadership of President, Commander-in-Chief Mr. Ilham Aliyev. He said that on November 8, after a long  time the city of Shusha, which is of great importance and symbolic for the people of Azerbaijan, was liberated from occupation. The liberation of the city of Shusha, which is the crown of Karabakh entered the world military history as a unique military operation. Today, our people are celebrating this  victory with great pride. Docent Elmar Khalilov prayed for healing to our veterans  losing  their health in that war, and God"s mercy to our martyrs. He emphasized that our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the homeland will always live forever in our hearts.

The director of the scientific library  Naila Amrahova, as well as the lecturers of the department of History and its teaching methodology associate professor Samir Karimli spoke about the history of our national statehood, the powerful army and the intense political-diplomatic activity of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev. Today  our people are experiencing the happiness and joy of the great Victory.

Employees of the scientific library Ulkar Ramazanova  spoke on the topics  “Vətən sizə oğul dedi”,  and Turan Mammadova, “Zəfər tarixi-zəfər yurushu”.

The third-year students of the faculty of Philology Humay Isayeva  sang the poems “Murovun o üzü də vətəndir ” , and  Narmin Kardashkhanli  "Khudayar".
