An event was held in SSU in connection with the 140th anniversary of the Yerevan Teachers' Seminary
On December 5, Sumgayit State University held an event related to the 140th anniversary of the Yerevan Teachers" Seminary.
Professor Ramazan Mammadov vice-rector for Science and innovations of the university opened the event with an opening speech and welcomed the guests and participants. He said that the event was organized in accordance with the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated December 29, 2021, that it is important in terms of restoring national memory, and that we are taking ownership of the historical heritage we founded in the territory of the Iravan Khanate. He spoke about the contributions of the Yerevan Teachers" Seminary to the development of education and the enrichment of the scientific, literary and cultural environment. He noted that celebrating the anniversary of the seminary, which prepares national teaching staff, according to the relevant Decree of the head of state, has important historical and political significance. Graduates of the Yerevan Teachers" Seminary played a great role in the development of national education in the South Caucasus. They took part in opening new schools in the regions inhabited by Azerbaijanis and involved Azerbaijani children in education.
Farrukh Rustamov dean of the faculty of Primary education of ASPU, doctor of pedagogical sciences, professor, Honored scientist Farrukh Rustamov gave a speech on the topic "Role of Yerevan Teachers" Seminary in the development of national education in Western Azerbaijan" and information about the book "Iravan Teachers" Seminary and its graduates". He stated that he wrote this book by fulfilling his duty as a scientist-citizen, inspired by the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev and his high concern for science and education.
He noted that the seminary produced outstanding personalities who played an exceptional role in the history of Azerbaijan and in the development of education, culture, and pedagogical thought of the western region of Azerbaijan.
Hikmat Alizadeh, professor of the department of Pedagogy of BSU, doctor of pedagogical sciences "Historical circumstances of the establishment of the Yerevan Teachers" Seminary and the reasons for its closure", head of the department of Pre-School education of ASPU, doctor of pedagogical sciences professor Museyib Ilyasov delivered a report on "History of the Research of the Yerevan Teachers" Seminary" and gave information about the history of Yerevan Teachers" Seminary, the organization of classes in the seminary, its place and importance in the history of national education of the seminary. They said that the role of this educational institution in the training of future educators. Iravan and Gori teachers" seminaries have a great role in the formation of educational traditions in Azerbaijan.
The dean of the faculty of Philology of SSU associate professor Sevinj Hamzayeva, the dean of the faculty of History and geography, professor Adil Bakhshaliyev, the head of the department of literature of Azerbaijan and foreign countries, professor Avtandil Mammadov spoke about the history of the Yerevan Teachers" Seminary and noted that the city of Yerevan was historically a large city where Azerbaijanis lived.It has gained fame as one of the centers of science, education and culture.
