On December 21, the next meeting of the Scientific Council was held at Sumgayit State University. The rector of the university professor Elkhan Huseynov greeted the members of the council and said that in connection with the 60th anniversary of Sumgayit State University a mini-football championship was held among students of higher educational institutions with the support of the Ministry of Science and Education, the Republican Committee of the Free Trade Union of Azerbaijan Education Workers, AFFA, the Public Union of the Azerbaijan Student Football Federation and "Azfar Group" CJSC. Sumgayit State University"s mini-football team also participated in the championship among 16 teams, and the commemorative cup of the tournament was presented to our university. The rector congratulated the staff in this regard, informed about the issues on the agenda. Then the agenda issues were discussed.

Head of the Scientific department associate professor Samir Orujov spoke about the results of the scientific-research works conducted at Sumgayit State University in 2022. He said that in accordance with the Strategic Development Plan of SSU, the work carried out in the direction of placement of "Scientific News" magazine in "Scopus" International scientific database is satisfactory. Being a member of Publication Ethics Committee of SSU and "Crossref" was ensured   for obtaining DOI for articles published in a Scientific news journal.

At the meeting, the inclusion of both sections of the scientific news magazine of SSU in the high scientific-analytical information base - the Russian scientific reference index (РИНЦ) was positively evaluated, and at the next stage, vice-rector for Science and innovations professor Ramazan Mammadov was assigned to strengthening of the work carried out in the direction of the inclusion of the scientific news magazine in the SCOPUS international summarizing and indexing system.

Narmin Hasanova - head of the department of Quality assurance in education spoke about the results of the surveys conducted among the students of Sumgayit State University in the 2022/2023 academic year and the determination of the level of satisfaction. Thus, 3355 students took part in the survey for 2022-2023, which made up 65% of the student contingent. The survey was conducted anonymously and transparently, and compared to the previous academic year, growth dynamics were observed. Narmin Hasanova also drew attention to the fact that in the next year, relevant surveys will be conducted in the Career Center and faculties in various directions.

Rector professor Elkhan Huseynov entrusted the consideration of the opinions and suggestions put forward by the students to the heads of the respective structures.

Docent Musa Mustafayev - chairman of the Teaching Methodical Council informed about the results of the open classes held in academic groups. Along with holding open classes according to the approved schedule, participation in classes held in academic groups aside from the schedule is entrusted to the chairman of the Teaching methodical council of SSU doc.M.Mustafayev, to the chairmen of the teaching methodical councils of the faculties, assoc.prof. Sh. Salimov, prof. N. Isganderova, prof. A.Bakhshaliyev, assoc.prof. G. Huseynov, assoc.prof. K. Aliyeva, assoc.prof. Sh. Mammadova and assos.prof. A. Hashimova and the heads of the department. In order to further improve the quality of classes, the heads of the department are assigned to discuss the opinions and suggestions mentioned in the open classes held in academic groups at the department meetings.

Docent Gadir Mansurov - the responsible secretary of the Competition Commission spoke about the results of the competition held in the "Best monograph" category. It was considered appropriate to extend the time of the competition for the "Best monograph" nomination until the end of 2023.

Associate professor Amirkhan Isayev - head of the Career center spoke about the partial change in the name of the Career center of SSU and the approval of the Center"s new Charter. He said that the center"s work with students and graduates is being strengthened and its activities are being expanded.

After the speech, Career Center of SSU was renamed as a Career and work with graduates center and its Charter was approved.

Then current issues were discussed. Scientific secretary professor Mukhtar Samadov gave a speech regarding the granting of publishing rights to teaching materials. He said that the Scientific Council received 11 teaching materials, 1 of them is a textbook, and 10 is a subject program., appropriate decisions were made after discussing the presented teaching materials.

The topic and scientific supervisor of the dissertation of Nasirova Elmira Alish- assistant of the department of Informatics were approved. The election of professor of the department of World economy and marketing Shafa Aliyev to the position of professor at that department was left to secret voting, and based on the voting results, Shafa Aliyev was considered to be elected to the position of professor at the department of World economy and marketing.

Nemat Ibayev- associate professor of the department of Azerbaijani language and its teaching methodology for his scientific and pedagogical activities to grant the title of associate professor to him the issue a petition to the HAC was discussed. After the discussions, based on the results of the secret voting, it was decided to submit a petition to the HAC to grant the title of associate professor to Nemet Ibayev.
