On January 17, the rectorate "s meeting was held at Sumgayit State University. The rector professor Elkhan Huseynov declared the meeting open, greeted the participants, brought to their attention the issues on the agenda and spoke about the upcoming tasks. He touched on issues that provide to improve the quality of education, strengthen scientific activity, develop human resources, and further improve the working conditions of teachers.

Associate professor Musa Mustafayev – chairman of the Teaching Methodological Council gave detailed information about the state of organization of the teaching process and improvement measures in the departments of Pedagogy and psychology, Geography and its teaching methodology, Mathematical analysis and theory of functions, Electromechanics, Biology and its teaching methodology of SSU. He noted that a number of decisions have been made in the direction of integrating Azerbaijani education into the European education system and increasing the international competitiveness of the higher education system in the Republic of Azerbaijan. All this shows that the development of the education sector in our country is one of the main priorities of the state policy. In this regard, improving the quality of education,the level of satisfaction of students and educators is the focus of SSU. Docent M. Mustafayev stated that one of the factors that serve to improve the quality of teaching is the planning of the active teaching load of teachers in accordance with the normative requirements, and the other issue is the correct selection of the subjects taught by the teachers and the planning of their number according to the norms. For this purpose, in order to determine the state of organization of the teaching process in the departments of Sumgayit State University, an inspection was carried out in the mentioned five departments, taking into account the large volume of the annual teaching load in those departments, the heads of departments and faculty deans were assigned to conduct work in the direction of attracting highly qualified specialists.

Associate professor Musa Mustafayev pointed out that the supervision of the state of the organization of the teaching process in the departments and the process of improvement was entrusted to the vice-rector for the Teaching organization and training technologies associate professor Natig Talibov.

Then the head of the department of Petroleum chemistry and chemical engineering professor Akbar Agayev noted that earlier an informal group consisting of heads of the department was created under the line of the Ministry of Science and Education. Study plans, subjects allocated to specialties, hours allocated to subjects were discussed with the participation of department heads, and certain decisions were made. He emphasized that even now such an approach can benefit the common cause.

Narmin Hasanova - head of the department of Quality Assurance in education informed about the results of the 2018-2022 teaching recruitment competition held by the Ministry of Science and Education in the 2022-2023 academic year and the tasks facing SSU. She said that the process of employment of graduates who participated in the teaching recruitment competition was focused on the Career and work center with graduates, and students who studied in the teaching profession, distinguished by their activity and with special talent were focused on by the deans of the faculty.

Rector professor Elkhan Huseynov noted that our expectations are higher. Taking into account the statistical information of the Ministry of Science and Education, additional training should be organized with the students who are studying in the teaching specialty and help them preparing for the Teacher Recruitment program.

On December 20, 2022 at the Ministry of Science and Education, at the meeting with the rectors of Higher Education Institutions Sabir Behbudov - the head of the teaching department of the Teaching Methodological Center spoke about the organization of the discussion of the presentation on the transition to the 3-year study program at the undergraduate level among the employees of SSU. He noted that the justification of the positive and negative sides of the transition to the 3-year study program was entrusted to the faculty deans.
