The subject Olympiad on Mathematics dedicated to the International Day of Mathematics was held at SSU
On March 4, under the organization of Sumgayit State University and Absheron-Khizi Regional Education Department the Mathematics Olympiad was held among V-IX students of Sumgayit city secondary schools dedicated to March 14-the International Day of Mathematics.
We should note that holding Subject Olympiads has already become a tradition in our university. One of the main priorities of SSU is to achieve the unity of science and education.
At the opening of the Olympiad, the head of the department of Mathematics and its teaching methodology associate professor Maftun Heydarova spoke about the importance and purpose of the Olympiad. He stated that the purpose of organizing the Olympiad is to create interest in science in teenagers at an early age, to identify talented students, in accordance with the plan "2015‒2025 development strategy of the youth of Azerbaijan" by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev dated January 26, 2015, to create conditions for them to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in a healthy competitive environment.
Docent Maftun Heydarova wished the students good luck as educated specialists of the future and success in the Olympiad.
The chairman of the organizing committee of the Olympiad, associate professor of the department of Mathematics and its teaching methodology Maftun Heydarova said that knowledge and knowledge-based experience are the greatest wealth that a person will gain during his life. Those who are hard-working, persistent, strong-willed can overcome the ups and downs road to knowledge. The achieved victory will always remain in the memory of those who win it as the most pleasant memory and will push them to greater victories.
We should note that 212 students from 41 secondary schools and 4 liseums operating in Sumgait city participated in the mathematics olympiad. The questions presented to the students were compiled by the staff of the department of Mathematics and its teaching methodology.
The results of the Olympiad will be announced by the jury, the winners will be presented with diplomas and various incentive prizes.
