On November 10, in the HeydarAliyev Center the II Republic Knowledge Race named “HeydarAliyev and Azerbaijan History” was held with the participation of  students studying  in different institutions of the country for Bachelor`s  and Master`s degree. 
Project being held with the support of  theHeydarAliyev Center and the Ministry of  Education aims to  study  our  national leader HeydarAliyev`s life and activity, to preserve and promote nation-wide leader`s heritage among the younger generation, at the same time to  increase younger generation`s interest in science, education and various races. 
In the race where totally 47 teams were taking part, there were three rounds and 12 questions were asked in each round. The questions were about the topics related to national leader HeydarAliyev`s childhood and youth, Moscow and Nakhchivan period of his activity, as well as period  of his governing independent Azerbaijan.
In the race Sumgait State University was represented by the team of 8 students from the Faculty of History and Geography. Our University`s team was accompanied by vice rector for Humanitarian Affairs, assoc. prof. NizamiNamazov, dean assistant of the Faculty of History and Geography  Osman Hajiyev,  head of the department of Azerbaijan History, assoc. prof. AmirkhanIsayev and chairman of the Committee of Student Union NematIbayev. During the race the team of SSU answered correctly to 30 questions from 36, and has been awarded the 5th place among the 47 education institutions. 
To this end, on November 11, dean of the Faculty, Professor AdilBakhshaliyev met the students and noted that these competitions give an opportunity to access the detailed information about HeydarAliyev`s heritage. Fortunately, students are more inclined to study his historical merits for statehood. The national leader is such a great personality that we can talk for hours about his political activities, we  can  write so many thick books about independence that has given us. As a result of our national leader`s care and attention today younger generation have been providing with comprehensive conditions to get a high-level education in our University. It also gives you the opportunity to represent properly  our country in any part of the world. 
In the end, students shared their impressions of the race.
