On May 12, the meeting of rectorate of  Sumgayit State University was held.

Rector professor Elkhan Huseynov greeted the meeting participants, informed them about the issues on the agenda and spoke about the progress of the university"s scientific and educational activities.

Rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov congratulated Bahruz Amiraslanov, head teacher of the department of Information technologies and programming of the faculty of Engineering, on receiving a Ph.D. degree in technical science, and wished him success in his scientific and pedagogical activities.

Then the discussion of the issues on the agenda began.

Faig Shirinov, director of the Teaching methodical center, informed about the organization of the exam session of the spring semester of the 2022/2023 academic year and the state of preparation for the Final State Attestation. He noted that the spring semester of the 2022-2023 academic year is about to end. In this regard, according to the rector"s order on the organization of the examination session of the spring semester of the 2022-2023 academic year, the Final State Attestation and the examination session of the spring semester, will be held in the traditional written form from June 1 to July 5. In this regard, the exam questions and other necessary educational materials for the subjects taught in the spring semester were delivered to the students, and at the same time, the exam questions were placed on the information board of the specialty departments. Also, the deans of the faculty gave assignments to the departments and students regarding the holding of pre-examination counseling hours.

Faig Shirinov, director of TMC, also emphasized that, in accordance with the curriculum, summary lectures are planned to be held from May 25 to June 20 after the end of the pedagogical experience in the graduation courses at the undergraduate level. In this regard, the preparation of overview lecture schedules has been started. According to the schedule of the educational process, the examination of the Final State Attestation and the defense of the graduation work are planned to be held from June 21 to July 5. State examination schedules are also about to be finalized. Since students with an overall average success rate of over 80 are expected to complete the graduation work, they have already been assigned supervisors. All preparatory stages for holding the III colloquiums have already been completed. It will be held from May 15 to 25.

Associate professor Sabir Khalilov, head of the department of Doctoral and master"s studies, reported on the organization of the examination session of the spring semester of the 2022/2023 academic year at the master"s level and the state of preparation for the Final State Attestation. He said that in order to conduct the examination session of the spring semester of the 2022/2023 academic year in an organized form, the examination schedule has been drawn up in the faculties at the master"s level, and the examinations will be held in the I and II educational buildings of the university in all faculties.

Sabir Khalilov, spoke  about the progress of the preparation for the Final State Attestation, said that the composition of 23 specialized councils was approved by order DM-05/6 dated 27.01.2023 for 55 specializations of 32 specialties at the university. The defense of master"s theses of second-year full-time graduate students will be held from June 22 to July 5 in appropriate specialized councils.

After the discussions, Faig Shirinov and associate professor Sabir Khalilov told about the state of preparation for the exam session of the spring semester of the 2022-2023 academic year. Associate professor Natig Talibov and director of Teaching Methodical Center Faig Shirinov were entrusted to

 control of exams, daily analysis of exam results, to control of ensuring objectivity in student evaluation, organization of the exam session based on existing normative documents to the educational methodical center and faculty deans, prompt investigation of complaints received by the exam headquarters and ensuring transparency.

Associate professor Elmar Khalilov, vice-rector for Social affairs and public relations of the university, spoke about holding the "Graduate Day". He noted that this year, as every year, "Graduate Day" is planned to be held in the yard of the main educational building of the university on June 30.

It was decided that the supervision of the preparation of the diplomas to be presented on the "Graduation Day" to associate professor Natig Talibov -vice-rector for Teaching organization and training technologies, and the supervision of the timely completion of "Graduation Day" preparations and vice-rector for Social affairs and public relations should be assigned to associate professor Elmar Khalilov.

Associate professor Elmar Khalilov, also informed about the state of preparations for "Independence Day", said that the establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic - the first parliamentary republic in the East on May 28, 1918, entered the life of the Azerbaijani people forever as a great and significant event. That date is celebrated as "Independence Day". This significant day is also celebrated at a high level at Sumgayit State University. This year, it is planned to organize events related to "Independence Day" in the faculties.

After the discussions, appropriate decisions were made and the rector"s meeting finished its work.
