"Best presentation" competition on the topic "Karabakh and Shusha in medieval sources and modern researches" was launched at SSU
On May 15, the "Best Presentation" competition on the topic "Karabakh and Shusha in medieval sources and modern research" was launched based on the implementation of the action plan related to the declaration of the city of Shusha as the "Cultural Capital of the Turkic World" for 2023.
After the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played, the dear memory of our martyrs who died for the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of our homeland was commemorated with a minute of silence.
Then a video was shown on the topic of "My native Karabakh".
The dean of the faculty of Economics and management, associate professor Aynura Yahyayeva, opened the event with an opening speech, talked about the role of the city of Shusha, which was called the "Pearl of the Caucasus" at the beginning of the 18th century, in the social, political and cultural life of our people. He noted that the city of Shusha, founded in 1752 by Karabakh khan Panahali khan had a rich historical development and played an exceptional role in the cultural and social-political life of Azerbaijan and the entire South Caucasus. This city, which has always preserved its unique historical appearance and has written remarkable pages in the annals of our literary, cultural, scientific and social thought with its great personalities. The rapid development of the city of Shusha in the 70s of the last century is closely related to the name of our National Leader Heydar Aliyev. Special decisions on the development of the city were made at the initiative of the Great Leader. Since that time, construction work in Shusha have expanded, and important steps have been taken to perpetuate the memory of our cultural figures.
The dean said that the city of Shusha was under Armenian occupation for 28 years, it was liberated by the brave Azerbaijani Army under the leadership of the victorious Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev on November 8, 2020. She noted that the implementation of huge projects has been started and a number of measures have been done in this field, and wished success to the students.
The moderator of the event, Lyudmila Ismayilova, senior lecturer of the department of Finance and accounting, doctor of philosophy in economics, noted that 24 students from the faculty of Economics and management applied to participate in the competition. The competition will be held in 3 stages. At each stage, the speeches of 8 participants will be heard. The winner of each round will be determined by the jury - associate professor Malahat Panahaliyeva, head of the World economy and marketing department, Logman Abdullayev, head of the Finance and accounting department, Lala Mahmudova, head of the Economics department, and associate professor Galib Huseynov, head of the Business organization and management department.
We should note that on the final day, the winners of all three rounds will be heard again and the winner will be determined. Certificates and prizes will be awarded to the winners and finalists.
