On May 18-19, 2023, the opening ceremony of the International Forum "Quality Assurance and quality enhancement in higher education" was held at the Baku Marriott Boulevard Hotel under the organization of the Quality Assurance Agency in education .

The main purpose of the forum is to discuss the importance of independence and responsibility in the process of external quality assurance, the participation of stakeholders in the process of external quality assurance, as well as the study of advanced experience in this field.

The chairman of the board of QAA in the education, Ulker Sattarova, delivered the opening speech, informed the event participants about the work of the agency in the direction of quality assurance during the period of the first forum, the results, as well as cooperation with international donors and future plans in order to strengthen the potential of  agency.

Idris Isayev, deputy minister of Science and education, one of the main speakers, first informed the event participants about the steps in the field of quality assurance in Azerbaijan's higher education. As a continuation of the speech, Idris Isayev informed about the approaches  during the preparation of "Evaluation criteria for institutional and program accreditation of higher education institutions" and the contributions of the relevant criteria to higher education institutions.

During the main speeches on the first day of the conference, Magalie Soenen, director of the Register of Quality Assurance Agencies in the European Higher Education Area (EQAR), one of the leading international organizations in the field of quality assurance in Europe and in the world, director of the Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ARACIS) and Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area Daniela Cristina Ghitulica, vice president of the Association for Quality Assurance in higher education (ENQA), director of the Slovenian Quality Assurance Agency (SQAA/NAKVIS) and Franci Demsar, president of the Central and Eastern European Network of Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (CEENQA) in the European higher education spoke about the sphere of the internal and external quality assurance system in higher education organization  in accordance with quality assurance standards and guidelines (ESG), the role of external quality assurance in improving the position of ATMs in international ratings, and other similar issues.

On the 2nd day of the forum, workshops were organized for members of higher education institutions. In the organized workshops, foreign experts discussed the design of educational programs in the foreign quality assurance process,strategies and methods for organizing problem-based learning, and advanced practice.

It should be noted that the rector of Sumgayit State University, professor Elkhan Huseynov, associate professor Natig Talibov vice-rector for Teaching organization and training technologies, head of the department of Quality Assurance in education Narmin Hasanova and head of the Education office Sabir Behbudov participated in the International Forum.
