On May 24, a scientific seminar dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev, the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, a genius, a world-famous political figure, was held under the organization of the department of Economics of the faculty of Economics and management of Sumgayit State University on the topic "Heydar Aliyev and the economic development model of Azerbaijan".

In addition to Azerbaijani universities, economist scientists from leading universities of Russia, Turkey and other countries, as well as professors and students of Sumgayit State University participated in the scientific seminar.

First, the participants commemorated the dear memory of National leader Heydar Aliyev with a minute of silence.

The dean of the faculty, associate professor Aynura Yahyayeva, opened the scientific seminar with an introductory speech, greeted the participants and talked about the importance of the event. He said that holding events dedicated to the national leader Heydar Aliyev, researching the exemplary life and activities, rich heritage of the genius and transferring it to students and young people was always in the spotlight at SSU. In this direction, it was a tradition of the university holding events dedicated to the anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. The dean spoke about the glorious life path of the Great Leader and his historical services to our Motherland. He said that today we can say with great pride that creating new economic system of the independent state of Azerbaijan is connected with the name of Heydar Aliyev. This is such an economic system that is able to create a strong foundation for the prospective development of our republic to realize the possibilities of raising the standard of living of the people. Heydar Aliyev, who had exceptional organizational ability, rich management experience, and deep analytical thinking, views on the development strategy of independent Azerbaijan are foundation for our country. These conceptual views are based on the reality of Azerbaijan, the systematic analysis of its opportunities, and the evaluation of the processes in the globalized world from the point of view of national interests. Currently, under the leadership of our President Ilham Aliyev, who successfully continues the political and economic course defined by National Leader Heydar Aliyev in accordance with the requirements of the modern era.

Then the head of the department of Economics, associate professor Lala Mahmudova, began her speech on the topic "Heydar Aliyev is the creator of the market economy model of independent Azerbaijan". He spoke about his unparalleled and exceptional services, his goal-oriented, far-sighted and decisive policy aimed at strengthening peace, security and progress in the region. At the same time, he spoke about the contribution of the oil strategy, to the progress of all spheres of social life and rising of social welfare.

The following speakers made a speech such as: Habil Aslanov, associate professor of the department of World economy of Baku State University "Heydar Aliyev is the architect of Azerbaijan"s independent national economy", head of the department of Economic Security of UFA State Oil Technical University Olga Mamelatalashvili "Features and development prospects of Russia-Azerbaijan economic relations", leading researcher of the department of Regional development and using problems of natural resources of the Institute of Economics Matanat Abdalova, "Essence and features of Heydar Aliyev"s transitional policy", Elmira Gojayeva, associate professor of the department of Applied Economics of Azerbaijan State University of Economics "National priorities of socio-economic development in the context of sustainable development of Azerbaijan". They noted that Heydar Aliyev, a great personality, an outstanding statesman, a genius leader, dedicated his life to his country and nation. We had to continue Heydar Aliyev"s legacy as a citizen. Today, obtained achievements which complement Heydar Aliyev"s legacy under the leadership of President Mr. Ilham Aliyev, a pragmatic leader with high thinking, rich statecraft experience, lead to sustainable development.

In the end, professor Adil Bakhshaliyev, dean of the faculty of History and geography, and professor of the department of World Economy and marketing of the faculty of Economics Shafa Aliyev   stated about the Great Leader. The seminar concluded with these topics "Essence and characteristics of Heydar Aliyev"s economic policy", "The modern state of development of Azerbaijan is the result of Heydar Aliyev"s economic policy", " The development of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the context of Heydar Aliyev"s economic policy".
