An amazing "Graduation Day" was celebrated in the yard of Sumgayit State University. In addition to university professors and students, parents and popular musical guests participated in the event.

Rector of the university professor Elkhan Huseynov opened the event and congratulated the graduates and wished them success in their future activities.

The rector talked about the attention and care given to science, education, and youth development in our country, the activities of the higher education institution which he leads, the educational system, successes and international relations, the importance of the reforms implemented in the development of education in our republic, and the concern for the education of Azerbaijan in both periods of the Great Leader"s rule. He said that these days the 100th anniversary of the great historical figure, the architect and founder of the modern independent state of Azerbaijan, the world-famous political figure National Leader Heydar Aliyev is being celebrated with great solemnity. Today, as happy young people, on the 100th anniversary of the Great Leader"s birth, you step  an free life in historical conditions where his ideas and dreams have come true, and his recommendations and wills have been fulfilled. It is gratifying that our young people are represented with great success in the most diverse areas of the country"s life, demonstrating their knowledge and skills. In this direction, the professor-teacher staff of Sumgayit State University worked for you open the doors of science and train you as high-level specialists. For this purpose, the university has new, modern laboratories, an electronic scientific library, an open-air teaching museum on electric power and a high-voltage substation-training ground to strengthen students" practical knowledge, etc. was opened up; activated. As a result of the achieved successes, many of our students participated in international competitions and scientific conferences and represented our university well. Your achievements and results of the semester exams show that our hard work has not gone in vain. A graduate of each university is an indicator of its success and achievements. I hope that you will effectively use the scientific knowledge which you gained during your studies, and you will raise the name of the university even more. I wish you good health and success in your future activities! I believe that your activities will contribute to the development of our homeland and country. You will unconditionally fulfill every call of our Victorious Commander-in-Chief, President Mr. Ilham Aliyev.

Then, on behalf of the parents, veterans Bunyad Garayev and Leyla Hasanova, a participant in the 1st Karabakh War, members of the Sabunchu District Veterans Society congratulated the graduates, their parents, the professors and teachers of the university on the occasion of the significant day, and wished them new achievements. Then the other guests who spoke also congratulated the graduates and wished them success in their future lives.

At the end of the official part, honorary degrees and memorial gifts were presented to a group of graduates who distinguished in education and actively participated in the public life of the university.

Then the traditional "throwing cap" ceremony was held, and the "Graduation Day" continued with the artistic part. Along with the university"s volunteer team, the Honored Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan Nushaba Alasgarli, the winners of the Eurovision Song Contest  Nigar Jamal and Eldar Gasimov, as well as other young artists, congratulated the graduates with their performances.

Graduation day becomes a pleasant memory that will last a lifetime.
