A MEETING WAS HELD BETWEEN BP MULTINATIONAL OIL AND GAS COMPANY AND REPRESENTATIVES OF SUMGAYIT STATE UNIVERSITY
On August 2, a meeting was held between bp company and SSU representatives at Sumgayit State University (SSU).
The meeting was attended by Bakhtiyar Aslanbeyli, vice-president for communication and external relations in the Caspian region, and rector of SSU professor Elkhan Huseynov.
First, rector professor Elkhan Huseynov and Bakhtiyar Aslanbeyli, vice president for Foreign Relations and Communication in the Caspian Region of BP, paid tribute to the memory of the national leader Heydar Aliyev by arranging flowers in front of the bust erected in the lobby of the university.
At the meeting attended by representatives of both sides, the rector of the university professor Elkhan Huseynov, greeted the guests and expressed his pleasure to see them at the university. He talked about the work done by BP for the development of the oil sector in our country as one of the largest oil companies operating in Azerbaijan. He said that BP in Azerbaijan is not only in the oil sector, but in other sections of the economy, including education, culture, social and other fields attract attention with its activities. The support of the company to Azerbaijan"s higher education institutions to implement projects in various fields is a clear example of the private sector"s concern for education.
Bakhtiyar Aslanbayli, BP"s vice president for the Caspian region Communications and External Affairs made a speech and gave detailed information about BP"s activities and social projects. He spoke about the work done by BP in Azerbaijan regarding safe and sustainable business activities that benefit the society. The vice president said that one of the main goals of educational projects implemented by BP in Azerbaijan is to help the development of human capital for the future of the country. Bakhtiyar Aslanbeyli emphasized the importance of initiatives that will serve to establish long-term and sustainable cooperation with SSU.
Later, the parties initiated a memorandum of understanding that will determine the direction of future cooperation. Drafting of that memorandum was entrusted to Working groups. Also, opinions were exchanged on other issues of mutual interest regarding the development of cooperation relations between production and educational institutions.
