A training on "Horizon Europe" research grant program was organized by the Ministry of Science and Education and Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences for local higher education institutions and private sectors. In this direction, on September 26-27, the Central Scientific Library of ANAS held a two-day training on writing project proposals "Proposal Writing Camp" under the "Horizon Europe" program of the European Commission. The training, which includes three presentations (Cluster 1, 4, 5), aims to provide the necessary information for local ATMs and scientists about applying for research grant projects, available opportunities, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), COST and Medical staff programs, and to promote information exchange and cooperation in this field among the participants. The training camp was organized by the European Commission (EC) and ANAS in order to ensure the successful participation of Azerbaijani researchers, experts from the public and private sectors in the "Horizon Europe" program. The training, supported by the European Union, was conducted by expert Gorazd Weiss from Austria and expert Bruno Mourenza from Italy. Other experts from EC joined the training in online format and participated in the exchange of ideas.

30 specialists selected from more than 250 applicants from the public and private sectors participated in the training. Esmira Alirzayeva, Ph.D. in biology, associate professor, head of the international relations department of the Presidium of ANAS, pointed out that Horizon Week was held in Azerbaijan and a number of events were planned during this period. She pointed out that the current training, which is one of these events, opens wide opportunities to get more complete information about the "Horizon Europe" program and invited our scientists to closely participate in prestigious projects such as the "Horizon Europe" program, which enables the scientific potential of our country to be known in the world. In the training, the work program of the "Horizon Europe" program for 2023-2024, the definition of challenges, the procedure for writing project proposals, the evaluation criteria were brought to the attention of the participants, theoretical and practical lessons were held. Later, group work was carried out on defined topics. In the end, certificates were given to 30 people who participated in the training. Zhala Mammadova, director of the Language and Translation Center of Sumgayit State University, also participated in this training and received a certificate.
