On December 27, an event was held at Sumgait State University on the occasion of the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis and the New Year holiday.

Rector of the university Rufat Azizov greeted the participants of the event, congratulated the team on the occasion of World Azerbaijani Solidarity Day and New Year, spoke about the importance of this significant day, the unity and solidarity of Azerbaijanis around the world, as well as the successes achieved by our country in recent years. He said that the foundation of the Solidarity Day of World Azerbaijanis, which is a dear and native holiday for each of us, was laid by our National Leader Heydar Aliyev in order to create the unity of our compatriots living in different countries of the world. For almost 34 years, the Azerbaijanis of the world have been celebrating this day at a high level as a symbol of national unity and solidarity. The liberation of our lands from occupation was the celebration of our national solidarity, the embodiment of the close unity of our people around their leader.

The Rector also drew attention to the fact that the year 2023, which we will say goodbye to in a few days, is marked by very important events in the social-political and socio-economic life of our country. He specially emphasized that this year, under the leadership of our President Mr. Ilham Aliyev, our republic has achieved many successes both in the international world and at the national level. Also, the rector gave information about the work done at Sumgayit State University in 2023 and the successes achieved. He said that in 2024, the main goal will be related to quality education, personnel training in accordance with the requirements of the labor market, and ensuring the employment of students. Thus, teaching in English will be started for two majors, student and teacher mobility will be prioritized, and relations between the university and industrial enterprises will be further expanded.

At the end of his speech, Rector Rufat Azizov congratulated all the people of Azerbaijan and the event participants on the occasion of the holidays, and wished them new successes and new achievements in their activities.

Then the winners of various contests and competitions held on the occasion of National Leader Heydar Aliyev's 100th anniversary, Victory Day, Independence Restoration Day, and ‘Student of the Year’ were presented with certificates of honor and valuable gifts.
