THE NEXT MEETING OF THE SCIENTIFIC COUNCIL WAS HELD
On January 18, the next meeting of the Scientific Council of Sumgayit State University was held.
The chairman of the Scientific Council, rector, docent Rufat Azizov, made a speech, greeted the members of the council and declared the meeting open. He pointed out that the main tasks ahead, as well as the progress of the exam session of the autumn semester, the declaration of 2024 as the ‘Year of Solidarity for the Green World’, preparations for the early presidential elections to be held on February 7, 2024, and other important issues will be discussed. He also spoke about the fire that happened in the dormitory of the Sumgait State Technical College operating under the Sumgait State University last night. He noted that security regulations and fire safety measures should be constantly focused and vigilant at the university, and at the same time instructional measures should be held in the Student House.
SSU vice-rector for Social issues and public relations associate professor Elmar Khalilov gave information about the winners of the Spartakiad dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, among the employees of higher education institutions organized by the Republican Committee of the Free Trade Union of Azerbaijan Education Workers within the framework of the ‘Year of Heydar Aliyev’ and presented them with diplomas.
Associate professor Elshad Abdullayev, vice rector for Science and innovations, and associate professor Konul Abasli, rector"s advisor, spoke about the process of the examination session of the autumn semester of the 2023/2024 academic year. They informed that the examination session of the autumn semester of the academic year 2023/2024 is held in accordance with the order of the rector of SSU dated 01.12.2023 No. R-54/1. During the examination session, it was brought to attention that the expectation of the principles of objectivity, fairness and student-orientation in the process of examination and evaluation of examination papers was entrusted to the faculty deans, department heads and subject teachers.
Associate professor Konul Abasli, rector"s advisor, informed about the establishment of the project management department and staff units of the department. She noted that in the indicators put forward by the Accreditation Commission, the participation of the university in international projects and the preparation of international projects were set as goals. This is also important for SSU"s progress in the Global Ranking. Therefore, it would be appropriate to establish a project management department.
Elmar Khalilov, vice-rector for social issues and public relations, and Nofal Ahmadov, head of the personnel department, who informed about the extraordinary presidential elections to be held on February 7, 2024, spoke about the processes of preparation for the elections.
Rector docent Rufat Azizov spoke about the tasks ahead in connection with the declaration of 2024 as the ‘Year of Solidarity for the Green World’. The 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change - the unanimous decision to hold a prestigious event such as COP29 in Azerbaijan is a sign of great respect and trust for Azerbaijan by the international community, as well as for our country"s national, regional and global environmental protection, climate is a clear example of appreciation of his contribution to the prevention of changes.
For the purpose of preparing a large-scale Action plan dedicated to the "Year of Solidarity for the Green World", the heads of the structure should be tasked with making relevant proposals.
Academic secretary professor Mukhtar Samadov gave a speech on granting publication rights to educational materials. He said that out of 5 materials included in the Scientific Council, 1 is a textbook, 1 monograph and 3 subject programs.
After the discussions, publishing the teaching materials were allowed and the meeting ended with the discussion of various issues.
