A MEETING WAS HELD WITH THE FINALISTS OF SUMGAYIT AND ABSHERON OF THE 13TH REPUBLICAN COMPETITION ‘SCIENTISTS OF TOMORROW’ AT SSU
On February 2, a meeting was held at Sumgait State University with Sumgait schoolchildren who will participate in the XIII Republican Competition ‘Scientists of Tomorrow’ organized by the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan and other relevant institutions.
The head of the Absheron-Khizi Regional Education Department Ilhama Abdullayeva, deputy head Ramin Abasov, and directors and academic leaders of full secondary schools operating in Sumgait took part in the meeting.
Rector of SSU, associate professor Rufat Azizov, first greeted the participants and congratulated the students on their progress to the final stage of the ‘Scientists of Tomorrow’ competition, stating that Sumgait schoolchildren have a unique place in the field of education. He noted that providing scientific support to the competition was entrusted to Sumgait State University for Sumgait city secondary schools. Under the leadership of Professor Javanshir Mammadov, from 2012 until now, more than 100 of our projects have taken part in the ISEF ‘Scientists of Tomorrow’ competition, and 4 of our projects have been represented in the United States. I hope that our students will actively participate in the 13th Republican Competition and achieve high achievements and will be successfully represented at the International Science and Engineering Exhibition held in the United States.
At the end of his speech, the rector emphasized the importance of this type of competitions in terms of revealing the creative potential of students, and called them to be active.
It should be noted that the 13th Republican Competition ‘Tomorrow's Scientists’ aims to identify talented students with a tendency to scientific research in 8 areas (mathematics, physics and astronomy, chemistry, biology, medicine and health, ecology and environmental management, engineering, computer science). In the end, Azerbaijani schoolchildren who achieved high scientific research results will participate in the International Science and Engineering Exhibition (ISEF) held in the United States.
