On February 14, the next meeting of the Scientific Council was held at Sumgayit State University.

The rector of the university, associate professor Rufat Azizov, greeted the members of the council, congratulated the staff on the successful completion of the extraordinary presidential elections on February 7 and the active participation of the university's teaching staff in the elections. Then the Scientific secretary Professor Mukhtar Samadov informed about the issues in the agenda and  was approved.

On the results of the examination session of the fall semester of the 2023/2024 academic year, associate professor Elshad Abdullayev, vice-rector for Science and innovations at the undergraduate and graduate levels, associate professor Konul Abasli, advisor to the rector, on the statistics of students who applied for an appeal during the examination session and the results of the appeal, about the examination session associate professor Elmar Khalilov, vice-rector for Social affairs and public relations, and assoc. prof. Matanat Pirguliyeva, director of the Technical Technical College of Sumgayit State Technical College at SSU, gave extensive information about some shortcomings. They noted that during the exam session, the regular monitoring of the exams by the representatives of the university management ensured that the exam session was held at a high level. The activities of the Examination Headquarters and the Appeals Commission during the examination session at the undergraduate and graduate levels were positively evaluated.

​Assoc. prof. Natig Talibov, vice-rector for Teaching organization and training technologies, spoke about the implementation of structural changes in the faculties of SSU. He pointed out that it was necessary to make certain structural changes in order to adapt the activities of the faculties of Chemistry and Biology, Engineering, Physics and Electroenergetics to modern requirements. Therefore, the faculties of Chemistry and Biology, Engineering, Physics and Electroenergetics were re-formed and functioned as the faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, the name of the faculty of Chemistry and biology was partially changed to the faculty of Natural Sciences, the engineering specialties from the faculty of Chemistry and Biology were transferred to the faculty of Engineering, Physics and Electroenergetics. ​

During the discussion of various issues, Scientific Secretary professor Mukhtar Samadov gave information about the approval of the Statute of the Language and Translation Center of SSU in a new edition.

For preparing  students for  IELTS exams, the director of the Center, Zhala Mammadova, was entrusted    to provision of collaborators of   Language and translation center  to gain experience.

Then, the thesis of Farida Yusifli, a former dissertation student of the department of Petroleum Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, was approved in the new editorial office.

In connection with the granting of publishing rights to educational materials, it was noted that the Scientific Council received 10 educational materials, 3 of them are teaching materials, 1 of them is methodological material, and 6 are subject programs.

After the discussions, permission was given to publish the educational materials.
