A LITERARY AND ARTISTIC EVENT DEDICATED TO THE 32ND ANNIVERSARY OF THE KHOJALY GENOCIDE "FROM DARKNESS TO LIGHT" WAS HELD AT SSU
On February 23, Sumgayit State University held a literary and artistic event dedicated to the 32nd anniversary of the Khojaly genocide called "From Darkness to Light".
Ilhama Abdullayeva, head of the Absheron-Khizi regional education department, Farid Gurbanzade, head of the Absheron-Khizi regional culture department, Telman Karimov, head of the Absheron-Khizi regional youth and sports department, Aygül Guliyeva, leading human resources specialist of "Gilan" Textile Park, Eren Chakıroğlu, director of the paint factory at the base of the Textile Park and university professors, teachers, and students participated in the event.
First, the participants of the event viewed the photo exhibition "Traces from Khojaly" organized in the lobby of the university in connection with the Khojaly genocide.
The memory of the victims of the Khojaly genocide was commemorated with a minute of silence at the ongoing event in the Great Assembly hall.
Rector docent Rufat Azizov, who opened the event with an introductory speech, talked about the horrors of the Khojaly tragedy, written as a black page in the history of the Azerbaijani people. He noted that 32 years have passed since the Khojaly genocide, which entered the history of our nation and humanity as a bloody tragedy.
The rector brought to the attention of the participants that the criminal and terrorist activities directed against the peaceful population of Azerbaijan by the armed forces of Armenia are continued in the 21st century. He said that the Khojaly genocide was given a legal and political evaluation only thanks to the initiative and attention of the national leader Heydar Aliyev. Today, consistent measures are being taken under the leadership of President Mr. Ilham Aliyev and First vice-president Mehriban Aliyeva in order to spread the truth about the Khojaly Genocide in the international world. Within the framework of the "Justice for Khojaly" campaign initiated by the vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Leyla Aliyeva.
Rufat Azizov stated that the truths of the Khojaly genocide will never be forgotten, emphasized the role of Azerbaijani youth in promoting these truths in the world community and called on the youth to be more active in this direction.
Later, a literary and artistic composition called "From Darkness to Light" was performed by the students.
