OUR EMPLOYEES VİSİTED THE GUBA GENOCİDE MEMORİAL COMPLEX
On March 31, in connection with the 106th anniversary of the Genocide of Azerbaijanis, a group of teachers of the Department of History of Azerbaijan and East European Peoples of Sumgait State University visited the Guba Genocide Memorial Complex.
The employees visited the monument erected in memory of the victims of the genocide and laid flowers in front of it. During the visit, the guides of the Guba Genocide Memorial Complex gave detailed information about the atrocities committed by the Armenians in Guba in 1918, the horrors inflicted on the Azerbaijani people and the real signs of these massacres.
For information, let"s note that the Guba genocide cemetery was discovered on April 1, 2007, when earthworks were being carried out in the area. After that, the employees of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences conducted extensive research in the mass grave. As a result of the research, it was determined that the grave was related to the genocide committed by Armenians against the local civilian population in 1918.
It should also be noted that the visit of the Guba Genocide Memorial Complex in connection with the Day of the Genocide of Azerbaijanis on March 31 by the employees of the Department of History of Azerbaijan and Eastern European Peoples is carried out in a traditional manner every year.
