On April 4, the next meeting of the Academic Council of Sumgait State University was held. Rector of the University, Chairman of the Scientific Council, associate professor Rufat Azizov, opened the meeting with an introductory speech, greeted the members of the council, professors and teachers and introduced them to the issues on the agenda, and the agenda was approved.

Natig Talibov, vice-rector for education organization and training technologies, spoke about the changes made in the structure of Sumgait State University.

Konul Abasli, vice-rector for international relations, made a detailed speech about the establishment of the Organizational Commission for the self-analysis of the Institutional accreditation of SSU, the discussion and approval of the Action Plan related to the QS - World universities ranking, and the establishment of the Center for Sustainable Development at Sumgait State University. It was informed about the approval of the composition of the Organizational Commission for the self-analysis of the Institutional Accreditation of SSU. In a short period of time, the creation of sub-working groups and the initiation of self-analysis were entrusted to the members of the Commission. Provision of the preparation of the report on the results of the self-analysis on the Institutional accreditation of SSU was entrusted to Associate Professor Natig Talibov, Vice-Rector for Education Organization and Training Technologies, and Associate Professor Elshad Abdullayev, Vice-Rector for Science and Innovations.

In order for SSU to be decided in the ranking table of QS-World universities, the heads of the structure were instructed to constantly focus on the fact that the university's professors and teachers regularly publish articles in journals included in international summarizing and indexing systems (Web of Science, SCOPUS and Springer). Associate professor Konul Abasli was entrusted with the delivery of the electronic version of the Action Plan to all structures.

At the meeting, Vice-Rector for International Relations Associate Professor Konul Abasli was entrusted with the preparation of the Regulations of the Center for Sustainable Development at SSU, carrying out studies on determining the directions of activity and ensuring the preparation of proposals for the next Scientific Council.

Gulnar Jafarova, head of the Quality Assurance and Strategy Department, spoke about the results of the survey conducted with the students and noted that the questions put forward in the survey conducted with the students were of an innovative nature in accordance with modern and international requirements. Appropriate measures were assigned to the heads of the structures to consider and resolve the remarks, opinions and suggestions put forward by the students in the conducted survey. Gulnar Jafarova, head of the Quality Assurance and Strategy Department, was entrusted with presenting the recommendations to the deans of the faculty based on the results of the survey.

Vice-Rector for Teaching Organization and Training Technologies Natig Talibov informed about the replacement of some subjects taught in ‘Code Academy’ and ‘Entrepreneurship and new business development with the basic design method’ program

Academic secretary Professor Mukhtar Samadov informed about the granting of publishing rights to teaching materials and stated that 9 teaching-methodical works were submitted to the Scientific Council. 1 of them is a monograph, 3 is a textbook, and 5 is a subject program.

After the discussions, it was decided to publish teaching materials. Then, regarding the awarding of academic titles to associate professors of the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology - Shahnaz Guliyeva, Ayna Hajiyeva, Shalala Adigozalova, Associate Professor of Mechanics and Transport Technologies Shamama Mammadova, Associate Professor of the Department of Azerbaijani Language and its Teaching Methodology Khayala Mughamat for the awarding of the academic title of Associate Professor for scientific and pedagogical activity, the issue of filing a petition before the EAC was discussed.

After the discussions, based on the results of the secret voting, it was decided to submit a petition to the AEC to give them the title of associate professor. With that, the session of the Scientific Council ended.
