OUR STUDENTS MADE AN EXCURSION TO THE SHAMAKHI SAFARI PARK AS PART OF THE "YEAR OF SOLIDARITY FOR THE GREEN WORLD"
On April 27, within the framework of the "Year of Solidarity for the Green World", an excursion to the Safari park built in the area of the Pirgulu mountain-forest massif, located in the district, was organized for
students studying at the department of Biology and its teaching methodology under the leadership of assoc.prof. Zarbab Aghayeva and assoc. prof. Rafig Huseynov, one of the authors of the "Red Book" of Azerbaijan, the department of Biology and its teaching methodology of the faculty of Natural Sciences of SSU.
The purpose of the excursion is to educate students in the ecological field, to introduce different types of animal breeds, to protect endangered animals, to promote their care and to acquire practical knowledge in the relevant field.
During the excursion, the students were given detailed information about the various species of animals distributed in the park, the biodiversity of the area, and they saw Altai deer, Australian ostrich-Emu, Spotted deer, Noble deer, Alpanka, Llama, Bison, Peacock, etc.
It should be noted that the "Strategic Roadmap for the development of the specialized tourism industry in Azerbaijan" was approved by the Decree of the President of the country Ilham Aliyev dated December 6, 2016. According to that document, an ecological reserve for wild animals - Shamakhi Safari Park - was established within the boundaries of 620 hectares of land in the Pirgulu mountain-forest area of Shamakhi region by fencing 480 hectares in accordance with international standards. Genetically valuable animals were brought here from farms in Latvia, Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Hungary and released into a specially protected area.
