"SOLIDARITY FOR A GREEN WORLD" FORUM AND "GREEN WORKING PlACES" EXHIBITION WERE ORGANIZED AT SSU
On May 14, at Sumgait State University, with the main sponsorship of SOCAR Polymer LLC, "Sumgait Technology Park" LLC and "Glensol" company, the Absheron - Khizi Regional Branch of the State Employment Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Sumgait State University, Youth Development and "Solidarity for a Green World" forum and "Green working places" exhibition was held with the participation of state structures, private organizations and enterprise heads, in connection with the declaration of 2024 as the "Year of Solidarity for the Green World" and with the support of the Career Center, Sumgait State Technical College.
Mr. Zakir Farajov, the head of the Sumgait City Executive Power, members of parliament, law enforcement agencies, representatives of enterprises, departments and organizations, and university professors, teachers, and students participated in the forum.
First, the participants of the event paid tribute to the memory of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev by arranging flowers in front of the bust erected in the lobby of the university.
Then, in the lobby of the Great Assembly Hall, a photo exhibition of events held by Sumgait State University within the framework of the "Year of Solidarity for the Green World" was viewed.
The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played at the Forum in the Great Assembly Hall, and the dear memory of our martyrs who died for the integrity of our territory was commemorated with a minute's silence.
The rector of the university, associate professor Rufat Azizov, opened the forum with an opening speech, greeted the head of the Sumgait City Executive Authority, Mr. Zakir Farajov, members of parliament, guests and participants, and spoke about the importance of the "Solidarity for the Green World" Forum.
In connection with the declaration of 2024 as the "Year of Solidarity for the Green World" in our country, a series of events were held at Sumgait State University, and today's forum is also the host of COP29 in Azerbaijan and is organized within the framework of the "Year of Solidarity for the Green World", informing young people in this field, besides raising the level of education, and special importance in terms of conducting scientific researches.
The rector noted that the holding of COP29 in our country is the result of the successful domestic and foreign policy carried out by Mr. President Ilham Aliyev. Thanks to the wise policy of the head of the country, Azerbaijan plays an active role in solving global issues.
The rector said that the holding of COP29 in Azerbaijan is an important event in both the political and economic life of the country.
Rufat Azizov also noted that Sumgait State University and Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University will co-host the annual "global impact" forum of "Times Higher Education" (THE), one of the most prestigious rating organizations in the world, and as a result, our country's efforts in this direction will contribute to the work.
Mr. Zakir Farajov, the head of the Sumgait City Executive Power, gave a speech, evaluating the holding of such a forum at Sumgait State University as an important event. As in all parts of the country, in Sumgait city, various events are carried out within the framework of the "Year of Solidarity for the Green World", and in this direction, tree planting actions are continued in terms of the protection and increase of greenery.
After the plenary session, a tree planting campaign was started in the yard of the university as part of the "Year of Solidarity for the Green World".
After the tree-planting action, rector of the university associate professor Rufat Azizov and the guests got acquainted with the "Green working places" exhibition.
Speaking at the exhibition, director of Career and graduate employment center of SSU Nasiba Amirbeyova emphasized that such a forum was held for the first time at the university and gave information about the exhibition.
It should be noted that more than 70 institutions and companies from various sectors operating in our country were represented at the "Green Jobs" exhibition.
At the exhibition, students and graduates were informed by company representatives about vacancies and recruitment procedures in the largest private companies and state institutions of Azerbaijan.
Then Shahlar Demirli, the product owner of Guava Pay, teacher of the Baku Design Academy, gave a speech on "Trendous specialities of the modern world".
Later, a bicycle marathon among students "For the sake of a green world" started.
The forum continued in sessions.
Valeh Nasibov, head of the department of Perspective Development of the Energy System of "Azerenergy OJSC", Ayshan Hamidova, head of the Green Energy Department of the Education and Innovation Center of "Azerishiq OJSC", Parviz Garibzade, an expert on Azerbaijan of the International Energy Agency, and Isa Aliyev , director of "Green Solution Strategies LLC made a speech.
A round table was held among the delegations of different companies and institutions such as: National Observatory on Labor Market and Social Protection Issues, STP LLC, AzerEnergy OJSC, Azerikimya PU, SOCAR Polymer LLC, SOCAR Carbamide, Petrochemical Processes "University-Industry Cooperation for Sustainability" representatives of the Institute, Institute of Polymer Materials, "GiLTEX" LLC and "Azertechnoline" LLC.
SABAH.HUB board member Orkhan Abbasov held a workshop on "Social innovation ecosystem for sustainable development" for the participants consisting of academic staff and students of Azerbaijan Educational Institutions.
Ramil Huseyn, deputy executive director of the Economic Reforms Analysis and Communication Center, Sarvar Gurbanov, professor of the faculty of Public and international relations of ADA University, and Altay Ismayilov, head of the "Business Management" department of the Baku Higher Oil School, spoke at the panel discussion on the topic "Green economy and prospects for sustainable economic growth".
Within the framework of the forum, a running marathon was held among students. At the end, prizes were presented to the winners.
At the end of the forum, the "Ayna Band" group performed in front of the students.
