AN EVENT RELATED TO THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF BIODIVERSITY WAS HELD AT THE FACULTY OF NATURAL SCIENCES OF SSU

Against the background of modern ecological problems, biodiversity, their irreplaceable role in nature and human life, was organized by the initiative of Aysel Aghayeva, senior lecturer of the department of Biology at the faculty of Natural Sciences of Sumgait State University.

Associate professor Rashad Salimov, dean of the faculty of Natural Sciences, who participated in the event, informed the students about biodiversity, the history of creation of the Convention on Biodiversity, duties and responsibilities.

Musa Ahmadov, student of group 348 of the faculty, "Biodiversity and alternative energy sources", Solmaz Rahimova, student of group 343A, "Biodiversity and modern state of the Caspian Sea", as well as Sakina Abaszade, a graduate of the faculty, who is currently continuing her master's studies at the faculty of Medical Microbiology of Ataturk university in Erzurum, Turkey. She joined from the Zoom platform and presented their speeches on the topic of "Biomedical properties of mushrooms".

After the event, the paintings submitted to the intra-faculty painting competition on "Biodiversity and nature protection" were displayed and the winners were announced. In particular, the living corner created by the students from different types of plants and animals was welcomed by everyone.

The purpose of celebrating the International Day of Biodiversity was to draw students' attention to the problem of irreversible destruction of many representatives of flora and fauna on Earth, including in our republic, and to involve everyone in their protection.
