On July 10, the Center for Sustainable Development of Sumgait State University organized a round table entitled "Human capital: realities and problems" in order to promote the application of sustainable development principles. The concept of human capital, its problems and development prospects were discussed at the round table.
The main speaker, Shafiga Mammadova, associate professor of the Department of World Economy and Marketing of the Faculty of Economics and Management of SSU, emphasized the importance of the Sustainable Development Goals and noted that the "2030 Sustainable Development Goals" project reflects 17 main and 169 goals for national goals.
Later, Shafiga Mammadova gave extensive information about the 3rd and 4th directions of the Sustainable Development Center and specifically discussed the topic of "Human capital". She further stated that the concept of human capital emerged in the middle of the 20th century and since then it has been used more and more as an economic category. Currently, all over the world, including in Azerbaijan, significant attention is paid to the formation and development of human capital as a decisive social and cultural factor of the economy.
The speaker stated that education plays a key role in the formation of human capital and noted that one of the main tasks in the socio-economic policy of the country is to direct the results of economic development to social development.
At the end, discussions were held at the round table and the questions of the participants were answered.
