Organized by the Career and Alumni Center at Sumgayit State University, the month of July is traditionally dedicated to the Alumni Meeting Day.
On July 19, a meeting was held with the graduates of the Faculty of Engineering.
Rector of the university, associate professor Rufat Azizov, made a speech and greeted the former graduates. He said that the image of the university is shaped by its graduates. Sumgait State University is known outside the country for its graduates and successful educational strategy. In recent years, SSU has been showing its name and fame on the country's scientific platform, with its place in the ranking tables of European universities of the international QS. He also pointed out that the Alumni Association, which will be established for the first time in the history of the university, serves to keep the relations between the university and its graduates close at all times.
The Rector spoke about the innovations implemented at Sumgait State University and the Faculty of Engineering. He said that currently laboratories equipped with the latest equipment are operating in order to ensure the teaching process of the Engineering specialty. In the labor market of students, great work is being done to develop the relationship between production and personnel specialization, to provide jobs to graduates according to their qualifications in accordance with the requirements of enterprises. The Career and Alumni Center of the university is successfully operating in order to establish cooperation with private and state institutions in order to provide employment to graduates, and to provide students with internships in those institutions according to their specialties.

Then Nasiba Amirbeyova, director of the university's Career and Alumni Center, gave a speech and talked about the work done by the center she leads. She said that the university is achieving success by continuing its cooperation with industrial enterprises on a wide platform. In addition, meetings, trainings and camps are organized between students and success stories, which has a positive impact on the students' work life after graduation.
At the meeting, where a detailed exchange of views was held, Elshan Khudaverdiyev, Director of Sumgait Power Station, Vusal Ibrahimov, Head of Regional Department No. 12 of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, Ilhama Mirzayeva, Head of the Information Department at School of Chemistry and Biology No. 230 of St. Petersburg, and others spoke about their student years and teachers. They shared their good memories, first steps in their careers, and their successes in the work environment. They also talked about their close relationship with Sumgait State University. They expressed their gratitude to the university management for the initiative, wishing that such meetings would continue.
At the end of the meeting, the graduates visited the auditorium, laboratories, including the Electric Power Training Museum and the high-voltage substation Training Ground, where they held classes under the guidance of Associate Professor Ulduz Aghayev, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.
