The native language is the great wealth for everyone. And knowing different languages is everyone’s pride. Giving stimulate to the comprehensive development of the students at our university was held the next meeting of the club “We speak Russian.” The initiator of such meetings with the students who want to improve their foreign language skills is the chief of the department of foreign languages professor Nigar Isgandarova. At the opening of the meeting she noted that “Conversational Club” has already been functioning for the learners of English for several years. Starting this year such events are held in the Russian and German languages.
At the meeting the senior lecturer of the department A. Musayeva noted the importance of studying foreign languages and at the time she sounded the words of the national leader Heydar Aliyev: “I want our young people to learn Nizami in Azerbaijani, Pushkin in Russian, and Shakespeare in Engilsh.” She also noted that Russian is an official language of the United Nations, and UNESCO and at the same time it’s one of the official languages of other international organizations. At present, the interest in the Russian language connects with political, economical, and social factors. A modern specialist must know some languages. The goal of our meeting is to create a foundation for the study of the Russian language, to increase the students’ outlooks and to expand their knowledge of ethnography.
Then “Acquaintance” the subject of the meeting was announced. Presented slides, video materials caused a lively interest. Having entered the room the Russian correspondent Ivanov Vladimir Petrovich (Suleymanov Mir-Mansur group 770) was a real surprise. He took a short interview from the students. The students answered the questions, talked about their future plans.
And then a little humorous scene was presented by the students of economics and management faculty.
The rector of the university professor Elkhan Huseynov spoke at the end of the event. Citing the words of the national leader Heydar Aliyev, he noted that it’s important to learn foreign languages. And at the same time to learn foreign languages give an opportunity to be acquainted with the world science and belles – lettres. Commenting on the students’ replies to the correspondent he said: ”It’s very good   that students build their plans for future,  they exactly want to get a master’s degree and to build their professional careers.”
The rector of the university also informed about the prospects of cooperation with foreign universities and wished the students success.
