A meeting was held with the parents of martyrs within the framework of the project
On October 14, 2024, a meeting of students with parents of more than 200 martyrs from different regions of Azerbaijan took place at the initiative of the Excellence Center of Sumgait State University.
This event, held within the framework of the "My son is a hero" project, aims to perpetuate the memory of our martyrs on the 4th anniversary of the Patriotic War and convey to the younger generation the sacrifice of mothers who raised heroic sons. Martyr"s parents visited the Sumgait Martyrs" Alley together with the students of SSU. Later, the continuation of the event took place in the Great Assembly Hall of Sumgait State University. The rector of SSU, city officials, students and other guests took part in the event. Rector of the university, associate professor Rufat Azizov, said in his speech that such meetings are an expression of deep respect for the dear memory of our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the independence and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. He noted that mothers of martyrs should always be proud of their children"s bravery for the Motherland. Their children are a real example of heroism for future generations, and it is very important for our students to learn from these heroes.Speaking as one of the main guests of the event, the first deputy head of the Sumgait City Executive Authority, Teymur Samadov, emphasized the special importance of the families of the martyrs for the society and once again reminded of the heroism of their children for the sake of the motherland. Mrs. Samaya Hashimova, the mother of Martyr General Polad Hashimov, said that the families of martyrs are the most valuable members of our society and the heroism of their children will never be forgotten. She expressed her deep gratitude for the courage and sacrifice of the martyred mothers, and noted that these meetings played a great role in instilling the spirit of patriotism in young people. During the meeting, martyred mothers shared their children"s heroic life stories with the students. Martyrs" mothers noted that their sons grew up with the spirit of patriotism and did not hesitate to sacrifice their lives for the independence of Azerbaijan. Jalal Gurbanov, the organizer of the "My son is a hero" project, expressed his gratitude to the martyrs" families and state representatives, who demonstrated unity and equality over the past four years. This event demonstrated the loyalty of patriotic students of Sumgait State University to both national and moral values, and once again confirmed that the dear memory of our martyrs will always be cherished and their example of heroism will be passed on to future generations. In the end, the parents of our martyrs expressed their gratitude to our head of state, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, and the management of Sumgait State University, the initiator of the event, for their special attention and care.
