On October 17, 2024, the rector of Sumgait State University (SSU), associate professor Rufat Azizov, held a meeting with students who showed high academic results and scored more than 500 points in the 2024-2025 academic year. The main purpose of the meeting was to evaluate the students" achievements and support them. The rector congratulated the students for their high results and wished them success in their university years. He spoke about innovations implemented by SSU in order to create a high-level educational environment, measures taken to improve the quality of teaching, international relations of the university and to develop cooperation with industry. Rufat Azizov emphasized that the main goal of SSU is to become one of the leading higher education institutions of the country and the region. He noted that the recent achievements create an important basis for the transformation of the university into a research-oriented higher education institution. In his speech, the rector also highlighted the positive results achieved in this year"s admission process, there was a significant increase in the number of students who scored more than 500 points. In the 2024-2025 academic year, 20 students were admitted to the university with scores above 500, while this indicator was only one student last year. The rector specially noted this positive development and stated that according to the relevant decision of the Scientific Council of SSU, each student who scored more than 500 points was assigned an additional scholarship in the amount of 200 manats, and those students were provided with accommodation in the "Student House" that meets modern standards. Rufat Azizov emphasized that he is always ready to listen to the suggestions and concerns of students and encouraged them to be more active in university life.Associate professor Elmar Khalilov, vice-rector for Social affairs and public relations of the university, also made a speech and advised students to actively participate not only in educational process, but also in social and public activities of the university. The students, in their turn, expressed their gratitude to the university administration for the conditions created for them. They emphasized that they chose Sumgait State University precisely because of the high educational conditions and wide opportunities. The meeting continued in the atmosphere of mutual discussion, students addressed their questions and voiced their suggestions. At the end of the meeting, students who showed high results and scored more than 500 points in the 2024-2025 academic year were awarded certificates by the rector.
