On December 26, at 12:00, a moment of silence was held at Sumgayit State University (SSU) to honor the memory of those who lost their lives in the crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines plane. In observance of the day of mourning, the national flag was lowered in front of the university building. It is important to note that the crash involved an ‘Embraer 190’ passenger plane, owned by Azerbaijan Airlines, which was on its way from Baku to Grozny (Russian Federation). In remembrance of the victims, a day of mourning was declared throughout the Republic of Azerbaijan on December 26, 2024, in accordance with a decree issued by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
