On December 27, the award ceremony of the winners of the essay competition dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Sumgayit was held at Sumgayit State University (SSU). The competition was organized by the Student Trade Union Committee of the Univeristy. Speaking at the ceremony, the university's Vice-Rector for Social Affairs and Public Relations, Associate Professor Elmar Khalilov emphasized the importance of the competition in terms of introducing the rich culture, history and development of the city to the younger generation. According to the results of the competition, Aslan Askerov, a third-year student of the Faculty of History and Geography, was awarded first place, Elvin Abdullayev, a fourth-year student of the Faculty of Mathematics, was awarded second place, and Gulyana Gardashbeyova, a master's student of the Faculty of History and Geography, was awarded third place. At the end, the participants of the competition were presented with honorary diplomas, awards and certificates.
