On January 30, a meeting on the theme of “Values of Constitution and Sovereignty” was held at the Heydar Aliyev School operating under the Heydar Aliyev Center of Sumgayit State University (SSU) within the framework of the series of speakers on the theme of “Year of Constitution and Sovereignty”. The meeting was organized by the Heydar Aliyev Center of the university and the Student Trade Union Committee on the eve of Azerbaijan Youth Day. First, Sumgayit State University Rector Rufat Azizov, Member of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Valiyeva and the participants laid flowers in front of the monument erected in memory of the graduate martyrs who died for the territorial integrity and independence of our country in the university courtyard and the bust of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev in the university lobby, expressing their deep respect. Then, member of parliament Mehriban Valiyeva got acquainted with the newly renovated library and modern IT laboratories. Opening the meeting at the Heydar Aliyev Center of the university with an opening speech, Rector Rufat Azizov touched upon the importance of the Decree signed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on declaring 2025 the “Year of Constitution and Sovereignty” in the field of legal state-building of our country. The Rector also noted the services of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev in the development of youth in Azerbaijan, and the successful implementation of the state youth policy in Azerbaijan under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. He congratulated every young person, especially the youth of SSU, on the occasion of Youth Day and wished them success. A video clip reflecting our Constitution and sovereignty was shown at the meeting. Deputy Mehriban Valiyeva spoke about the importance of the “Year of Constitution and Sovereignty” and the reforms implemented to strengthen statehood, ensure territorial integrity, and further strengthen our country"s position in the international arena. Mehriban Valiyeva also touched upon the issue of Sumgayit being selected as the "Youth Capital" for 2025 in her speech. She noted that Sumgayit, an industrial city that is developing dynamically today, is known not only for its economy, but also for its large cultural, scientific and educational institutions. At the end of the meeting, a group of young people who distinguished themselves in the public life of the university were awarded and presented with certificates.
