On August 14, 2025, a meeting was held at Sumgayit State University (SSU) with the leadership of Bayburt University of the Republic of Turkiye. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Director of the State Agency for Science and Higher Education, acting rector of SSU, Professor Aminagha Sadigov, a member of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Nagif Hamzayev, rector of Bayburt University, Professor Mutlu Turkmen, Advisor for International Relations Assoc. Prof. Umut Yıldırım, and executives of SSU. Opening the event, Professor Aminagha Sadigov welcomed the guests and spoke about the reforms implemented in the science and education system of Azerbaijan in recent years and the innovations applied. He noted that our state, in addition to creating the opportunity for universities to operate completely independently, provides comprehensive support for their material and technical equipment and the implementation of international relations, including scholarship and double diploma programs. The level and scale of cooperation with turkish universities in this direction is of particular importance. Then, Aminagha Sadigov spoke about the place and importance of Sumgayit State University in the higher education system of Azerbaijan. He noted that SSU is one of the 9 Azerbaijani universities included in the prestigious QS World University Rankings today and has trained thousands of qualified personnel for the industry of the country and other sectors over its 65-year history. Industrial status of Sumgayit creates special opportunities for SSU students and graduates. Later, Rector of Bayburt University, Professor Mutlu Turkmen gave detailed information about the higher education institution he leads, and spoke about the university's faculties, educational areas, and international cooperation projects. At the end of the meeting, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between Sumgayit State University and Bayburt University. The document covers student and teacher exchange, joint scientific projects, conferences and internship programs.
After signing the memorandum of understanding, the guests got acquainted with the university campus and received information about the material and technical base, laboratories and educational buildings of SSU.
