A series of events dedicated to the commemoration of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev were held at the faculties of Sumgayit State University, jointly organized by the Student Trade Union Committee and the Student Youth Organization.
First, the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played, and then the dear memory of the Great Leader was commemorated with a minute of silence. In their speeches, the faculty deans spoke about the important role that Heydar Aliyev played in the development of Azerbaijan, both during the years when he led our republic during the Soviet era and as President during the years of independence. They noted that the Great Leader's attention to science, education, and intellectuals was one of the main directions of his statehood activities. His first meeting with intellectuals at the Academy of Sciences after returning to power in 1993 is a clear example of this attitude. The speakers noted that the traditions of statehood formed by Heydar Aliyev are being successfully continued today by President Ilham Aliyev. It was noted that as a result of the purposeful policy implemented by the President, Azerbaijan's international prestige has further increased, and the historic victory in the 44-day Patriotic War is one of the important results of this political line. In the artistic part of the events, students expressed their respect for the memory of the Great Leader with poetry and musical performances. At the end, videos reflecting the life and activities of Heydar Aliyev were shown.
