Sumgayit State University (SSU) has ranked between 531st and 540th in the QS World University Rankings: Europe 2026 results. SSU has increased its overall score by 62% compared to last year, rising from 12.5 points to 20.3 points. According to the ranking indicators, the university managed to surpass 29.6% of European universities in the previous period, and already 44% this year.
SSU's representation and strengthening of its position in this highly competitive ranking, which includes only 958 universities out of more than 5,000 higher education institutions operating in 42 European countries, is considered a significant achievement.
Ranked among the top 50 universities in Europe in terms of “Faculty-Student Ratio”, SSU has also secured a position in the top 301 universities for “Academic Reputation” and “Employer Reputation”.
The university has also stood out in the regional rankings of the QS European Rankings. Specifically, SSU has ranked among the top 50 universities in the West Asia region, placed 9th among the 15 universities listed in Azerbaijan, and secured the 1st position among the country's regional higher education institutions.
The key indicators demonstrating the development dynamics of the university are as follows:
Academic Reputation: increased from 14.9 to 27.5;
Employer reputation: raised from 14 to 32;
Employment outcomes: increased from 11.2 to 29.2;
International Student Diversity: grew from 4.4 to 4.9;
• Papers per Faculty: increased from 1.8 to 2.2;
• International Research Network: increased from 1 to 1.2.
