On April 22 with the coordination of British Council and Khazar University the conference “Shakespeare lives” (for the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death) was held in Baku. Prof. Hamlet Isakhanli opened the conference and warmly greeted the participants. Then the ambassador of Great Britain–Irphan Siddi made a speech and told about Shakespeare’s role in evolution of European art and literature. It was mentioned that Shakespeare was a playwright who could get fame both in comedy and tragedy style. His plays (Hamlet, King Lear, Othello, Romeo and Juliet etc.) are twinkled stars of the world literature . These plays have been translated into different languages including Azerbaijani.
A lot of researches took place in the event: prof. Sarah Knight- Lester University (UK), NataliaTvalchrelidze- Ilia State University (Georgia). From various Azerbaijan universities Alla Bayramova, Sabir Mustafa, Gilinckhan Bayramov made some presentations and demonstrated short films and plays.
The delegation from Sumgait State University headed by prof. Nigar Isgandarova together with some students of group 976(Gular Alakbarli, Laman Ismayilova, Tahmina Gudratova, Ulviyya Huseynli, Sofia Haydarova, Aytach Davudova) and the teacher –Zeynab Alakbarli has also participated in the event.
