In the history of literary and social opinion and  theatrical chronicle of Azerbaycan, Ilyas Efendiyev’s  immortal name is among the remembered and classics with his great works. He is always remembered with respect and reverence. On May 31, a book marathon dedicated to  the literary activity of the People’s writer, Republic State Prize Laureate, prominent dramatist Ilyas Efendiyev, was held at the university.
People’s writer, “Honour” ordered Ilyas Efendiyev is a writer, who passed through many-branched literary activity way. In addition to writing stories, the writer functioned as a talented dramatist, wrote voluminous novels and stories, feature stories and articles. He took a special place in the development of literature and theatre. The writer’s activity was highly appreciated by our State. His name was immortalized by the national leader Heydar Aliyev’s right order  publishing seven volumes  and  then by  Azerbaycan President Ilham Aliyev’s order- three volumes of “Selected stories”.  Today Ilyas Efendiyev’s works are read with great interest by young people and gain the readers’ great love. We are witness that the writer’s activity is of great importance for everybody, regardless age. The book marathon dedicated to the reading of  Ilyas Efendiyev’s works, was held among the faculties. 262 students attended, and 39 of them came to the second stage.
The students discussed the rich prose of Ilyas Efendiyev, who got the name in the history as one of the indispensable figures of twentieth century literature: his novels and tales “Willowed ditch”, “Bridgebuilders”, “Three friends behind the mountains”, “Fairy tale of Sarikoynek and Valeh”, “Don’t look back, old man”, “Ucatilan”, his dramas “Lighted roads”, “Spring waters”, “Atayev’s family”, “You are always with me”, “My fault”, “Don’t forget’, “Lost diaries”, “Strange guy”, “Songs stayed in the mountains”, “Sound coming from the gardens” were discussed with great enthusiasm. The students’ discussion and analysis were appreciated by the doctors of Philosophy – Tore Mammadova, Ismayil Aghayev, Dayanet Cumanov. The students were awarded: the first place – Asim Arazov- the student of the Faculty of Philology, the second place- Afsana Sailova -the student of the faculty of Chemistry and Biology, the third place – Aysel Shikhahmadova- the student of the faculty of History and Geography. Encouraging places were taken by the students of the faculty of Philology Zohra Muradzade, Ayisha Hajiyeva, Lamiya Mustafazade, the student of the faculty of  History and Geography Madina Mammadova.
It was noted that the book marathon will be held regularly, the great writer’s works will be looked through. Bacause, the writer’s life is a true model for young people.
