Republic Scientific conference on the topic “Social-economical, political and cultural development of Azerbaijan during independent years” devoted to the 25th anniversary of restoration of state independence of the Azerbaijan Republic was held in the Heydar Aliyev Centre of the university on October 13.
Vice-rector on Scientific and Innovations pr. Ramadan  Memmedov opened the conference, congratulated the participants with October 18 – Independence Day of Azerbaijan. He noted that collapse of the Soviet Empire gave a chance to Azerbaijani people to restore their national independence. Azerbaijan Republic accepted “Constitution Act on the state independence of Azerbaijan” in Supreme Soviet session on October 18, 1991. However our nation faced another danger to lose their independence again after 2 years of their success. He also said that during those years circumstances were not gladsome in inner and outer policy, economical and political conditions of the country were pitiable, our territories were invaded by Armenian armed forces, incompetent state government and their political mistakes, political controversy in the country, all these facts caused a great danger for the independence. The right choice of development policy of a newly independent republic demanded great political wisdom, rich practice and strategical mentality. As a unique personality having all these qualities Heydar Aliyev prevented the danger. 1993 was great turning-point in our Independence history. It is very joyful that the ideas of our national leader live nowadays. His political course is carried on by President Ilham Aliyev with new content and quality. Azerbaijan becomes more stronger day by day. In recent years great success is gained in the fields of economy, military reforms, science, education, culture, health, sport, social defense of people.
Then the dean of History and Geography faculty pr. Adil Bakhshaliyev spoke on the report “Heydar Aliyev is an architect of Azerbaijan Independence”, the head of General History Department of Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, associate of Azerbaijan National Scientific Academy Vali Aliyev spoke on “Study of Azerbaijani historical and cultural monuments in construction of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline”. History scientists of Sumgait State University, Baku Slavic University, Azerbaijan State Economy University, History Institute named after Bakikhanov of Azerbaijan National Scientific Academy also spoke about these reports. We should mention that 172 reports were presented by 22 scientific and educational institutions to take part in the conference.
