Elkhan Huseynov: ANAS plays an important role in staff training and in the  formation of  scientific potential.
On October, 20 the Republic scientific conference on “Macromolecular chemistry, organic synthesis and composite materials ” was held dedicated to the  50th anniversary of the Institute of  Polymer Materials. The event was hosted by the rector of the University professor Elkhan Huseynov. He welcomed the guests and expressed his pleasure to see them in the University and a roundtable discussion was held on the development of science and education. Professor Elkhan Huseynov noted that one of the main targets of higher education institutions is to prepare well-educated and experienced professionals and to provide strengthening of close cooperation and business relations between SSU and IPM. Acting director of the Institute of  Polymer Materials, corresponding member of ANASBakhtiyar Mammadov noted that training and development of professionals is one of the main challenges facing society and us. Then he expressed his gratitude to the rector of SSU for the warm hospitality.
The event was at the Assembly Hall and academics, the country`s outstanding scientists, professors, teachers and students of the University attended the event. In the lobby participants viewed the exhibition reflecting scientific achievements of the Institute of Polymer Materials. There was a moment of silence in the spirit of scientists deceased who made invaluable contribution to the development of Polymer Materials Institute.  The event was opened by DilgamTagiyev,the director of the Institute of Catalysis and Non-organic Chemistry, academician-secretary of the Department of Chemical Sciences. He said that our national leader Heydar Aliyev had exceptional services in the creation and development of the Institute of Polymer Materials of ANAS. Dilgam Tagiyev pointed out that Heydar Aliyev had always paid special attention to the Institute. He also added that the Institute was established as a branch of the Institute of Petrochemical Processes of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences in Sumgait in 1966 and then became the Institute of Chlorine Organic- Synthesis of ANAS in 1979. Since 1991, it acts as the Institute of Polymer Materials of  ANAS. He noted that being higher scientific body of our Republic, the Institute of Polymer Materials of  ANAS passed successful way over 50 years, even today our scientists` scientific investigations contribute to the development of the country.
Acting director of the Institute of  Polymer Materials, corresponding member of ANAS Bakhtiyar Mammadov glanced over the past period of the Institute established 50 years ago by a few loyal employees, talked about difficulties, challenges and successes.
Addressing the conference, the rector of Sumgait State University professor Elkhan Huseynov congratulated the Institute staff and country`s scientists on the occasion of this momentous day on behalf of the University`s staff. He also talked about the exceptional role of the Academy in the training of highly qualified personnel and  development of the scientific community in Azerbaijan. He said that after Heydar Aliyev return to power at the request of the people, his first meeting with the public was in the building of the National Academy of Sciences. Since that day, great attention is being paid to the development of Azerbaijani science. Today President Ilham Aliyev focuses on the science and education  issues, ensures the continuity of the reforms established by national leader HeydarAliyev in this field. Talking about the main targets and directions of the reforms implemented in education system of the Republic of Azerbaijan, cooperation contract within the framework of education-science-production between IPM of ANAS and SSU, establishment of the base chair of the University in IPM, opening of Science and Education Center of SSU and IPM as a continuation of this cooperation, he mentioned that SSU and IPM aims to ensure further development of relations and to allow our students to grow as a highly qualified professional staff. Rector expressed his deep gratitude to the  Minister of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabbarov and to the director of ANAS, academician Akif Alizadeh for the foundation of this Center.
The director of the Institute of Oil - Chemistry Processes, academician VagifAbbasov, the director of  the Institute of  Chemistry of Additives, academician Vagif  Farzaliyev, head of the Department of Science and Education, Doctor of  Technical Science Aminaga Sadigov talked about diversified activities and scientific achievements of IPM of ANAS.
 A group of employees of the Institute were awarded the Honorary Degree on the occasion of the anniversary. Then the film was shown dedicated to the 50thanniversary  ofIPM. 
It should be noted that the scientific conference dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Institute of  Polymer Materials is going on over four sections. More than 130 reports were presented to the scientific conference that will last till October 21.
