Our university has held the tournament for three kinds of sports on the occasion of 25th anniversary of the Day of Independence of Azerbaijan Republic. The tournament held by the efforts of Students’ Trade Union Committee and Sports’ Club  was finished. The teams of seven faculties took part in the competition for the first position. The teams of faculties of Philology vs History and Geography, Chemistry and Biology vs Economics and management stood in the competition face to face. Initially, the teams of faculties of Chemistry vs Biology and Economic and Management went to the competition for the 3rd position. The footballers of team of Chemistry and Biology left the play-field being winners. Afterwards, the teams of faculties of History and Geography vs Philology competed for the first position. The team of faculty of Philology took first position because of performed good game. After the completion of the game the winners went to the awarding ceremony. The vise-rector (on humanitarian issue) docent Mr. N. Namazov congratulated the amateur footballers and noted that since 1993 HeydarAliyev’s return to the power the development of the sports turned into one of the prior ways of state policy. Thus, it had been founded the ways of development in this field. Several international events taking place in Azerbaijan bring about the recognition of Azerbaijan as one of the sports country in the international arena and the joining to the Olympic movement took a wide range of spectrum.  Nowadays, the sports and Olympic movement of our country is developing successfully under the leadership of the president Mr. IlahamAliyev and predicts the big perspectives in the future. Speaking about the tournament head of sports club Mr. Z. Mammadov noted that the goal of project on mini football tournament is to arrange efficient free time and popularization of this kind of game among the youth and to propagate healthy living of them.  Finally, the winners awarded with cup and diplomas.
